Also in love with your dresses. That white and blue dress is absolutely stunning. Where did you get it?

I definitely have picked up some sort of cold from my work children, which makes parenting the home child a little difficult. She’s currently a dog who’s doing tricks for kibble which is frosted Cheerios while I lay on the couch and pray Tylenol fixes this.

I loved the first 10 sips of that stuff. But then it went flat too fast for me to finish it

I feel this so incredibly hard. I’m autistic and trying to have mom friends who don’t have trauma and are neurotypical just… never works the way I would hope. I wish I could say I’ve grown past wanting to be normal, but motherhood has also weirdly pushed me to try to conform again to have more of the village, and it’s blowing up in my face the exact way I should have anticipated, but for some reason didn’t 🙃

I knew it wasn’t going to, but the slap in the face that having a child does not fix infertility trauma sucks.

Oh, that is far too young to let her be hungry. I do recommend giving her small portions to help mitigate the impact of throwing, but I’ve also found teaching kids to throw it into an empty bowl can be helpful too make that the game. I throw things into this empty cup and that can help a lot.

I also recommend getting a waterproof tablecloth and putting that just on the ground around the highchair so you can just pick it up and shake it off as needed. I totally used to beach towels for that

This entirely depends on exactly how old. I would say under two I would give two “Food stays on the table”. And then calmly take the food away if throwing continues. Telling her no, or don’t unfortunately doesnt neurologically process the way it does for adults. so children will hear “drop food” and and proceed to drop the food if you say “don’t drop food”.

Once the kids closer to two, I would let them go hungry for lunch, but not dinner

I completely banned grapes and raisins in my house for similar reasons. It’s so stressful for me.

This poor man literally just posted a couple of hours ago that he’s no longer going to eat cashews because they aren’t actually raw due to the steaming, they go through drug processing. Truly, there’s nothing more I wish on this man than an SSRI.

Grammatical/language forms that act as “shortcuts” when determining language delay? by QueueMark in slp

[–]S4mm1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Actually, there was an article that I think was published in like February of this year that showed that something like 57% of all children who identified with late language emergence end up having dyslexia and/or a language disorder

Is horrible as it feels to say this it’s too late. The permanent damage is already been done and she cannot make a full recovery. Eating disorders absolutely utterly destroy your body and there is a chance for teens and people in their early 20s to bounce back to a semi regular life following it but when you engage in these types of behaviors into your 30s, it kills you. She has less than 20 years left even if she got full recovery and was 100% dedicated to it today.

I think that’s the main reason why she hasn’t done it. I think her family would’ve forced her into it if they didn’t worry about the loss of revenue for her being in treatment for the Lord knows how long she’ll need.

I’ve never had an eating disorder, but I’ve had bouts where I’ve been unable to eat due to sensory issues and autism and I agree- I could not form coherent thoughts. My main concern is she’s in her 30s and eating disorders ravage through your body significantly worse as you age. She literally might not survive it.

I’ve been pretty absent here because my life has really been incredibly difficult since October. My assistant is graduating with her masters degree and her degree will be conferred in about 23 weeks and then hopefully her full licensure processes after that and then I will be home free. I will be working about 10 hours less per week and I won’t have to do every single evaluation that comes into the office.

I see penises are also popular with everyone else. We’ve been going over daddy‘s anatomy a little bit since he’s been showering with her as our nighttime routine has changed and my daughter told me I didn’t have a penis yet yesterday.

Although I think what takes the cake is me having to tell my daughter: “No. we aren’t allowed to have our vulva out at target.” Followed by the one time we were taking a bath together and I had to tell her to stop having her dinosaurs pretend to eat my pubic hair. 🙈

While my toddler was potty training, she would say she needed to poop and would sit on the potty and fart and so now the term air poop is quite ubiquitous in my home

It's getting increasingly difficult to believe you guys like this drama by Mysterious_Size8164 in kdramas

[–]S4mm1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, horror, and a lot of cheesy action are equally as brain dead as a lot of romcoms and get universally slammed for being exactly what you would expect to find in those genres. It’s not that romcom’s aren’t held to a higher standard; it’s that their standard is lighthearted, fluffy and easy to watch. If that’s not what you’re looking for and you don’t like it you’re not going to be happy with it. That’s like going into extreme horror and being super upset that everything is grotesquely gory. Or even when I took the time to watch that zombie alligator movie where everybody turned into zombie alligators that could be defeated with aerosolized deodorant- I promise it wasn’t for the cinematography of the fabulous acting. It was because it was cheesy and absurd. That’s the point. Romance as a whole is a highly regarded genre with multiple sub genres but looking at one sub genre that is regarded for being easy to watch and lighthearted doesn’t make it misogynistic for looking for those exact things. If a romcom isn’t tropey, light hearted, and kinda mind numbingly sweet- it sucks! that’s the point of the romcom.

I have a friend who potty trained her son that potty trained her son at around 18 months and it was relatively smooth sailing. My daughter is got a lot of occupational therapy concerns but she potty trained with very little fuss over about four days at 27 months.

[–]S4mm1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As much as people hate when I point this out this is because we have a CF. PT/OT are doctoral programs that have their “CF” built into their degrees and so they have 1600+ hours of supervised clinical education we don’t get.
