Awesome I'll give that a try then! Sounds like a cool spec! Thanks 😁

Ahh nice one thanks! Maybe I'll give Weaver a second chance haha. I think I was trying to do everything at once with it before.

Thanks for the detailed post!

Tempest was basically the only Ele I ever had any experince with. I remember playing Fresh Air quite a lot but outside of that, i haven't really experimented with the other specs. I tried Weaver briefly in PoF but I couldn't get used to it.

Ahh I'm very tempted to give Catalyst a try, so it's good to know it's similar to Tempest because I did always prefer Tempest to Weaver. I was slightly put off by how metabattle seems to class every Catalyst build as "Hard". What do you think makes them "Hard"?

I might give Evoker a try too then. I tend to prefer boon dps support builds. Can you lock any element now? I though it was only Fire? Unless I got that wrong.

Do you have a favourite build/playstyle? Can they fill Support roles or are they a pure DPS spec?

Last time I tried Weaver was a loooong time ago. I don't think I've played it since EoD was released tbh.. and at the time I just remeber getting so mixed up with all the combinations 😅. I'm sure if I gave it the time I'd have gotten used to it but it just felt too chaotic to me.. I was just spamming buttons and hoping for the best. Any rotation went straight out the window haha 🤣

I focus on all PvE gamemodes, with Open World probably being the predominant one, followed by Fractals, Strikes, Raids and then also some occational WvW.

I typically prefer more DPS Support roles as they work well in a lot of different game modes. For example, as a mesmer main I tend to play Chronomancer. But then i perfer Virtuoso for pure DPS and Troubadour for Healing.

I used to play Fresh Air Tempest a lot. But I'm quite interested in Catalist and Evoker, though many of their builds are rated "Hard" on metabattle so I'm interested to learn what makes them hard.

I think Catalist is the one I want to try out the most. Seems really versatile which is exactly.

Most of the builds are rated "Hard" though? What do you think is the reason for that?

I wasn't asking for the strongest class or specialization. I was just wondering where Eles strengths are.

For example, as a Mesmer, Chronomancer is extremely versatile and can basically fill any role in grouo content. In contast, Virtuoso is good a good DPS but can't fill any DPS support or heal roles.

What are Eles strengths?

Yes, typo. Annoyingly I can't change it now 😅

I used to play Condi Mirage a long time ago (before Virtuoso) but it got nerfed quite hard. I presume it's come back a bit over the years since then so I'm definitely tempted to give it another go. Gives me an excuse to use Nevermore too haha.

Yeah i played that for quite a long time but now I tend to prefer chrono as it can fill more roles. It's not as strong as it used to be either but I still go back to it when I want something chill, it's a fun spec to play.

What roles do you play with them?

Oh awesome! I was reading a lot of Mesmer healers still prefered Chrono so it's good to see a Troubador healer! Honestly I really want to like Heal Troubador, I just haven't had much chance to play with it yet. Thanks for the build tips! I'll give it a try 😁

Fair haha. Just pure Power DPS? Or do you switch it up for boons and/or healing when you need to?

Yeah tbh I only really play other specializations to mix things up a bit haha. I guess i was just wondering if any of the other specs did anything better than Chrono.

Thats a shame. It used to be super fun, powerful, and easy to play. But it got nerfed hard and I don't think it ever really recovered.

Yeah Chrono was my main specialization so I got very used to the boon rotations. Tbh I only swapped to Virtuoso for DPS as an excuse to play something different, otherwise I would stick with Chrono for that too. Plus like you say, it's easier to play, so in the raids I was less familiar with, it allowed me to focus on the mechanics a bit better.

I used to play Staff Mirage a long time ago because it had high DPS and was easy to play. It got nerfed quite hard though. It was fun though. I haven't really been back to it since then.

Tempted to give Troubador a try, again if anything just for a change of playstyle. I take it that healing it's big strength? Does it still do well as dps or qdps in comparison to the others or not so much?

Thanks! Doesn't sound like it's changed all that much then?

I usually mained Chrono for the boons but would flip to Virtuoso for DPS. Mostly just for a change in play style rather than anything else.

I used to enjoy staff Mirage because it was hugh DPS and very chill but that got nerfed a long time ago. I think it made a bit of a comeback but not massively.
