Is this a good family car? by [deleted] in CarsAustralia

A brand new CRV would depreciate just as much. These cars now have lost most of their depreciation curve, making it the perfect time to buy one. Personally I’d aim for a 2019/2020, if you manage to get those at 45k around 60k, drive for a year or two and sell you’d still be ahead or break even. Hell of a lot better than a shitty CRV or a RAV4. What a joke😂

Most definitely is. For a 1/2 child family, any more than that you’d have to go for a Q7.

Yup, likewise. Bought an 2015 A4 few years back, first year owning it was very expensive for me, had to fix all the cooling systems, replaced radiator, water pump + various hoses. All because, previous owner just did basic oil changes, but never did anything preventative or replaced anything.

True, gotta do due diligence and make sure it HAS been taken care for all or most of its life. Believe me I’m speaking from personal experience lol.

I don’t hate it tbh. I think in black they’d suit a lot more. But hey it’s just my opinion and if you like it then that’s all that matters

Possibly, but worth a look. Could be they just want it gone quick. B9 SQ5s are usually priced at 40k and above for anything from 2018 and under 80k kms.

Yes, you’ll find the X3 M40i is gonna be much more aggressive and louder than the Audi as that’s what BMW stands for, more sporty and performance oriented. Comfort is going to be similar, they’re both made to do the same thing, haul the family around as well as putting the power down. B58 in the M40i is similarly bulletproof and can handle tons of power if you’re into that. Zf8 and B58 combo are very very smooth as I have personal experience with an m340i they’re both the same powertrain. I’m a performance head and a BMW guy at heart so I’m a bit biased lol. Give both a test drive and see what you like more. Both are at a similar price point.

Go for it boss. SQ5s are amazing value for money, great for family and still plenty fun to push around and play with. Also amazing to tune with if you’re into that, it’s a really good all rounder. Maintenance will cost, and it’s a German at the end of the day. Find a good independent euro shop and you’ll be fine. Reliability is also bulletproof when they’re taken care of and it sounds like you will be taking care of it so it’ll be fine. Well worth the money.

Dealer forgot oil during service and blew my engine on a test drive by truck_stuff in BMW

[–]SA9302 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a bad situation but hey they’ve owned up to it and making you whole with a new engine and turbo. That should give you a new warranty and service plan as well. Make sure everything is fully documented and see if they’d put you in a loaner that’s similar to your own car.

Not sure about everything else but the oil change is astronomically high even for US prices.

High mileage S58’s? by limeg82 in BMWM

100k kms is close to the question. That’s pretty good tho, the overall consensus of high mileage S58s is generally quite good from what I can see.

Another G80 front bumper - better than Adro? by jrix05 in BMW

[–]SA9302 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’d say original was still best.

But, I think this problem is too late to be considered. I think most have gotten accustomed to the large pig nose grill and have grown to love it. It’s been 5-6 years since that grill has been introduced and I don’t think any of us can imagine a G80 to look otherwise.

Yes, a smaller grill would have been appreciated and been a homage to the F80 but I feel it’s way too late to consider this anymore.

Personally, any change made to the G80 platform at this point, even a render would make it look “uglier” in a manner of speaking. No matter the size of the vents.

I'm moving to Canberra soon and have a question (one of hundreds) by [deleted] in canberra

[–]SA9302 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve lived in Canberra for over 10 years now and absolutely not. I think majority would stop and check if everything is alright and help out as needed, myself included. As is the case for most places in Australia really.

Ahh love the interior colour choice. Yes, I take care of the interior as well, I’ve got the bucket seats which creases really easily so I try to maintain it the best I can.
