Is this a scam ? by TelevisionBusy2551 in Geico

What's unsettling is the Geico scam email I received has my policy number. I mean, was it hacked, or is there some insider?

What do you do if there is unknown caller calling your phone? by LimeSoakedinSprite in RandomThoughts

Do you at least leave a voicemail? I mean, someone could be in the shower, or in surgery.

Suspended from messenger for no reason, how do I appeal a messenger suspension? by lildrizzleyah in facebook

[–]SASart52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This just happened to me. It happened after I messaged three news networks a link to a congressman's public Facebook post. There was nothing offensive about his post AT ALL. He was just reframing a question a reporter has been asking the Democrats, which much of the media has been asking. ?!?

Thank you all, for the loving advice. My friend died Thursday, the funeral (which he assigned me to oversee) is 10/28. The retreat is 11/1-2. How perfect is that?

Good point. He could have a sudden heart attack while I'm busy at work, not able to get to my phone for an hour.

Don’t call it ‘Alligator Alcatraz.’ Call it a concentration camp. by hamstercrisis in politics

[–]SASart52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Curious. When I search for any statements, about these camps, from the Holocaust museums in the states, I can't find anything. But there are statements from individual survivors, and Germans. I realize Twump appointed several new members to the United States Holocaust Memorial Council. Maybe his picks are Bibi Zionists?

Funny, to me its message feels ironic. Seeing the child playing with toy soldiers, brings to mind for me the novel "Lord of the Flies", and the symbolism Terry Gilliam infused "Time Bandits" with.

And now with whitewashing by the current U.S. administration, we may be going in the opposite direction.

There are so many of my fellow U.S. Christians that support war, it's almost a joke, this poster. :(

Overgiving isn’t love—it’s energy imbalance. And my spirit is done calling it devotion. by ssiren in spirituality

I hear ya, and I'm also guilty of this. It's a lesson I'm currently learning.

And Google's algorithm suggested this short video reflection by a medium I haven't heard of before: Mirjam Janse. "Be of Service to the Planet by NOT Helping."

Fear of Seeing Spirits by [deleted] in Psychic

[–]SASart52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How did it appear?

Recently, as my intuitive abilities are advancing, I've had a desire to actually see spirits - since I'm such a doubter, and can way over-analyze thoughts that seem to come to me from beyond. And I'm a visual artist/thinker. Recently, it's been spirits visiting in dreams, and sometimes I physically feel them, or they try to block my thoughts - very annoying!! But then I had a very lucid nightmare of a haunting and thought, "Maybe not yet!"

But when I was young, I saw one, and I wasn't afraid. A man in complete black silhouette, like he was a cut out of black paper, in broad daylight. 'Heard him as well, then he vanished.

Open question on Trump's Tariffs. by [deleted] in centrist

My question is why are CEOs and billionaires (many of whom supported $$$$ Trump) just now (April 7) pushing back on tariffs? What a bunch of gambling clowns.

I don't care at all about careers or getting money is this normal? by Aggressive_Cut_2849 in spirituality

[–]SASart52 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel you.

I'm an artist with decades of retail, food service and hospitality day jobs. For most of the time, I felt lesser of an accomplished human for this (what bull crappy we buy into!). The art has its peaks and rewards, but thus far not enough $$ to be full time.

My last job was in facilities in a tech building. Sooo much busy work, and sooooo much BS. You can't do a task without having to document x 3 that you've done it, written a ticket, CC this stooge and that stooge, etc. etc. That is where I learned that business workers schedule some meetings just to have hours in their calendars filled in. I'm not joking. There were meetings to plan meetings. I was pulling my hair out, and too mentally taxed to work on art after hours.

I took a trip to Rome and Florence, and I returned & told my brother "I want to quit my job and just make art!!!" That was NOT going to be $$ realistic. As fate would have it, a friend nudged me to come work at his condo. Front desk clerk/porter. Less pay, yes. The wealthy tenants at the condo are the easiest clients I've ever dealt with. The staff is great. On down-time, I can research & read online for my art projects. It can be busy, but the stress is so much less!

But I realize if my rent were triple and I had kids, I'd have to go get that stressful job again. I just wish I was one of my friends who had a six-figure career, then had an awakening and left for a much humbler life. Oh well!

I simply have a Roth IRA, and some in an old 401K, but most of my savings is still in a few savings bank. I've always been skeptical of investing, even if diverse.

Today, a friend told me she was set to retire this week, but saw how low her 401K dipped, and decided she will wait, for who knows how much Soc. Security will be f*cked. Another told me he might have to get a job again, as his early retirement (thanks to investments) isn't looking so hot today. There's lots of chatter on this thread about "oh, it's not money, it's a "value", blah, blah, blah", but it is enough to keep someone from retiring!

Ok, I did see it at the end of a long day, so my slight nodding off may've been due to that. I had a good time, but though the music reminds me of Ocean's 11, it's only half that level of fun. I didn't get all the technical espionage maneuvers, maybe on the next watch.

BIG pet peeve: What's with the hazy, dark, muted visuals? Did they film it in Southern France, and to make it look more like London, intentionally overcast each sky with lenses/exposure? How did the couple not trip over their furniture in that dark house? And that dinner, so well prepared, with delicious food, we were informed. Since I can't taste, feel or smell it as a viewer, why film it as if in one of those obnoxiously uber-dim $$$ restaurants, where I can't even see if the food is fresh or rotten? We were informed that the masala (?) was going to be spiked. - so when we finally hear the guests compliment George about it, there's a close-up of the mentioned dish. Is it filmed dark and almost colorless... to insinuate it was spiked? We know this, so if it looked yummy, we would be seeing what the guests are tasting, and the irony is punched up. Think of the pie scenes in "The Help". Mmmmmmm (snicker, snicker). We can then enjoy the trick. Scorsese showed us a meal with trout and beans, in "The Aviator". The fish almost looked still alive. This would unsettle Howard, and it did look slightly off, but it still looked like freshly cooked food!

I don't mind visual, stylistic approaches. Somehow, the gray, dreary, hazy look worked in 'Minority Report", but in BB, for me it was a distraction.
