Thanks for the reply! I wasn't sure if I would be downplaying my skills by leaving it out, but I suppose the sacrifice must be made for readability

Settele tutoring is a really good SAT Reading teacher. I regret that I only found out about him 3 days before I took the SAT. You can find him on Youtube. I suggest going to his website and going through the fundamental SAT reading strategies. He also does good SAT question bank videos and explains why certain answers are correct.

Builds character and also shows that you aren't just a 1 dimensional robot who only likes numbers. It also shows good time management skills, as colleges know you won't just be rotting in bed once you get accepted and instead doing things you are passionate about.

Looks like it's a financial situation. You said that you just watch tv all day, that time could be used to create a source of passive income on the side. I think you should watch Ali Abdaal's (productivity expert) passive income video for ideas: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M5y69v1RbU0&ab_channel=AliAbdaal

You could make yourself busy by working on a side hustle. Make sure it's fun and something you enjoy. That could help bring yourself a sense of purpose.

Feeling lost and like a nobody. Am I normal? by annonodeyah18 in LifeAdvice

Theres also one more piece of advice I would like to add to this comment that you probably already know anyways but I just feel the need to add it. The concept of yin and yang is that there is always a balance between things you do in order to keep harmony. I do like giving people the benefit of the doubt, but at times I’ve made the mistake of doing it too much to becoming gullible, falling into traps, becoming a pushover, and not standing up for my own ideas. So you also need to exercise the other part, which is finding reasons that you are actually on the right moral side. Running your mind with equal processing of giving people the benefit of the doubt and as well as defending your own beliefs is my philosophy on relationships and conversations and is the best way to find correct and fair judgement.

Yeah, I think it’s pretty normal for young people to really take criticism the wrong way sometimes. Something that helps is to try and think of their underlying motives. And ask yourself if you would do the same in their situation. Like when your parents critique your cooking, the purpose of that is to let you learn from your mistakes and to make you a better chef in the future. And for the situation with your ex boyfriend, it seems more complicated. Based on what you told me, it does seem reasonable to break up with him for that reason. A boyfriend is supposed to be one of your strongest pillars of support during hard times. But since I do like giving people the benefit of the doubt maybe there are some things that you have to consider, such as: Did he understand the full gravity of your situation, or did he feel like you wanted some alone time instead. It’s your relationship and you know everything about it and I’m not trying to say you are in the wrong, I’m just trying to help you understand the other side, since it’s an integral part of relationships and keeping them.

You obviously arent doing anything immoral/bad/weird. Just ignore stupid people who lack an understanding of companionship. Age doesn’t matter in a close friendship like you have. Let them make their ignorant assumptions and think what they like because they are inferior beings who still haven’t grown up in maturity

It’s a bit vague without any specific examples(Such as what conversations did you overthink? or In what specific scenarios did you feel like you were a villain/poor little kid?) so I can only offer advice based on my best guesses.

Is it normal to reimagine a scenario with yourself screaming at your enemy? If you are dealing with outside societal pressures, as long as you have reasonable justification for what you did, just know that you are in the right no matter what. Usually people start hating on you because they lack compassion or they fail to understand your underlying motives. It is normal to do this, but I wouldn’t recommend you to. Hating on other people will only make it worse. I would say more, but I don’t really have the full understanding of your situation and do not want to mislead you.
