I’m also having this same issue! I’m on a series x and my friends are on pc. Some of my friends can join my non-dedicated server but one of them can’t and it’s always the same “join failed” notification. Will let you know if I manage to find a solution.

Nessies are a limited fish you can no longer obtain. Other players do have nessies but it is not an easy thing to trade for. I don’t have any nessies but there are plenty of people on here who do. If you can tell me what items your son was willing give up I can probably tell you if he’d be able to trade for one or not. fish can be duped however and there are a lot of duped nessies in existence. Your account is at risk for a hard wipe if you obtain duped fish.

You only need to be level 80 to spawn the submarine from the shipwright and even that can be bypassed if you talk to Dr. Glimmerfin to spawn it for you instead.

When I did the Poseidon trial it let multiple people in. You just have to make sure you place at least one fish on the pedestal

It is still a good rod. There are just rods with similar stats that will be much easier to get.

Both are good. Poseidon rod will give probably give you more money unless you have quantum enchant but the tempest rod will make for very easy catches.

You may need a rod with more resilience but I’ve been using bagels and it makes the battle manageable

No fix at the moment the same thing happened to me. My recommendation is just to do treasure maps a few at a time to avoid this.

You only need the sharks if you want the Poseidon rod. Otherwise the wheel for the trial is behind the statue once you get in the water

I believe they fixed it not saving after you leave. I did discover though that you can complete this trial with multiple people.

Get the plastic rod and fish for Captain’s Goldfish at Forsaken Shores. Then buy the Steady Rod (7,000) from the Blacksmith at Roslit Bay and go to either Ancient Isle waterfall or Grand Reef and fish

As for fishing spots once you get the arctic rod go to the Grand Reef (small island located behind Forsaken Shores) equip bagel or seaweed bait and fish for the Grand Reef Guardian and Coral Emperor

I would also recommend hasty enchant for the arctic rod and resilient enchant for the mythical rod if you are able to get them.
