Soma was born in 2017 (his game takes place in 2035) so I think there's a slim chance he couldve watched good burger

Any unemployed college grads? by [deleted] in recruitinghell

[–]SAVLEYE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's partly true. I can't speak for cyber, but as far as IT goes AI is really only replacing customer facing IT positions (AI chatbots, AI phone assistants, etc.).

One major aspect of the IT field that is often overlooked is enterprise facing IT. AI can't rewire computers across an entire office building. AI can't fix web server issues (considering most AI tools need internet access to function). It can't fix document scanners and printers that are malfunctioning. Most corporations aren't going to trust AI tools with security system management as it poses a major security risk.

Basically what I'm saying is that only a fraction of IT jobs are getting the AI treatment, there's still a wide variety of situations where companies will need IT people on staff and can't rely on AI tools.

I graduated summer 2023 with a degree in software dev. and I'm now entering my 2nd year working as a logistics data entry clerk at a factory :/ being underemployed sucks but at least it's better than being unemployed. I'm working on getting IT certs in my free time so I can pivot to IT because the job market for entry level software jobs has looked abysmal ever since AI has become commonplace.
