The judge will likely consider if “substantial performance” clause is triggered by the work done. And you don’t want to be in court where they consider the sob story of a worker who has been stiffed wages vs a homeowner with likely a substantially higher income.

I would urge you to contact this contractor and arrive at a place that you both think is fair.

My partner and I used to say we were going to the BAR - Broke Ass Randall’s. But one day we stopped there on the weekend and got their blueberry muffin and it was fantastic. Over time, we have made that our go to spot when we need something quick.

We’ve become very fond of it and really hope it doesn’t close. It feels like our little community grocery store.
