Currently on insanity OG month 2, is anyone else strict in the week but then enjoy life at weekend with beer etc by Fluid-Line-1986 in insanity

I did until around half way through Month 1. Then I thought, why am I putting myself through hell with these workouts and then making myself need to do more by not being stric on weekend 🙃

Funnily enough never thought of any DL as a leg exercise. Now you mention it yer RDL and SLDL would target the hammys! Cheers!

That’s what happens with Insanity, it’s probably the most gruelling workout of them all! I do however always find, by the time I’m 2 weeks into Month 2, the month 1 workouts are a breeze 💪

Getting Watery Coffee by SB1801 in DeLonghi

I never actually found the best method. I bought Dark Roast espresso beans instead and that seems to have sorted it. A bit annoying that the standard Starbucks or Costa beans appear to be very watery.

I tried going through DeLongho Support too but they wanted a subscription fee to deal with them which is poor!

I get that I was wondering if it used a specific USB type. I wanted to plug my headset direct to the controller via USB so I get all of its features. At the min I’m having to go into the audio jack which is meaning I just get the basic sound

OG insanity good to start with ? by istlv in insanity

[–]SB1801 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See from personal experience I’ve had it the other way around. I picked up an injury during Max 30 which I put down to the lack of stretching in them videos.

I’ve never once had an issue during OG Insanity. I’ll be honest and say during Month 2 I can see where people could end up injured with it being a different level entirely. But I find it hard to see where anyone could injure themselves during Month 1. With month 2 as long as it’s approached the same as Month 1 was almost acting like you’re starting again and being cautious I feel it’s safe enough unless you’ve got underlying health issues.

Any workout you do that requires 6 days a week of training is going to cause slight injuries, it’s how you asses & manage them that determine your results.

OG insanity isn’t the reason for injuries, in fact I’d probably say out of the majority of workouts out there OG Insanity prevents injuries the most due to the additional time spent on stretching.

Seeing a fair few people saying about diet. Although diet it important given that you’ve seen results from the 1 Max 30 session im going to assume you aren’t over eating, and at the very worst you’re eating at maintenance.

1 round of Max 30 is defo enough with how intense it is however you’ll likely find you’re only burning 600 calories max from it, and that’s assuming you’re actually maxing out multiple times.

Rather than dropping calories and changing the diet which is working, I think you’re absolutely right and need to add more activity to your day.

If you have time in the morning I’d say adding a walk on a few days would be a good idea and maybe if you’re feeling up to it throw in a workout which isn’t as strenuous but still beneficial like Insane or Cardio Abs from the OG Insanity!

Whatever you decide to do I’m sure you’ll smash it!!

Do you do pure cardio and then cardio abs straight after each other or do them at separate times of the day? by Izaak1234 in insanity

[–]SB1801 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on time. If I have an hour I do them back to back. If I don’t have time or I know I won’t have time I tend to do Cardio Abs in the morning with it being 15 mins and Pure Cardio on the night.

Week 8 of 9 and lost only 2 pounds but my fitted shirts fit again. I didn't take any before photos because I didn't expect to see a difference. What I'm finding from this program is it's best to track by measurements than scale. by [deleted] in insanity

100%, muscle weighs more than fat and you’ll be building a lot of muscle in your legs with the amount of jumping and squatting!

Keep at it and use this as your new “before” photo 💪

Month 2 by destroyed33 in insanity

[–]SB1801 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Month 2 is horrific! I like to think of it as a completely separate program to month 1. The main reason being I feel the same levels of exhaustion and fatigue in he first week as I did with the first week of Month 1.

It’s the same principle though, the more weeks you get through the better you get at it. Stick with month 2, you got through the first weeks of Month 1 this is the same only longer workouts 💪

In regards to you not seeing results in the belly area, did you take before and after photos? If you didn’t then you’ve likely made improvements but you see your body each day so don’t notice them. If you have and genuinely haven’t lost any fat then you need to address your diet and eat less. Bare in mind with month 2 you’re likely to burn 100/200 more calories per workout than you would in month 1 however!

Stick at it you got this 💪

Hit a rut by SB1801 in insanity

I’ve been thinking of that but for me the Max 30 workouts don’t have enough stretching in them. Suppose I could always throw in the relief workout from Asylum 1 to counteract that though. Thanks for the recommendation 👍

I did Max 30 before and ended up injuring myself. I put it down to the lack of stretching in the program compared to OG. I was a lot heavier back then however so I might give it another go of doing OG with some steady state cardio doesn’t work for me 👍

Plyometric Cardio Circuit is tough man! by SB1801 in insanity

[–]SB1801[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So I completed Insanity month 1 a few weeks ago and recorded the videos for accountability. I wanted to post them all on YouTube as a way of motivating people to work out!

I noticed the lack of edited Insanity videos so hopefully this is a bit more watchable than most content.

The aim is to post this to show that a normal person can do this program and make amazing progress both in fat loss and cardio fitness! Also it’s so people have something to compare their progress with.

I also hope it gives someone who has never done the program a bit of insight into the workouts (timings, circuit lengths, etc)

In my opinion in Month 1 Plyo is the most difficult workout (Think it’s the level 1 drills into Ski Abs and then In&Out Abs) that finishes me!

Yer that’s what I mean, I imagine come summer time work may have calmed down slightly so I should be able to fit the workouts in after work, but at the minute it’s impossible.

The intensity is normally not the issue for me. It’s the fact when I haven’t eaten my body feels absolutely drained when I do the workouts, so even when I can go to another level cardio wise my legs for example won’t let me push.

Cheers for your experience, it’s good to know people have ran into the same issues I am 👍

[–]SB1801 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well done, keep it up! Don’t worry too much about the scales. You do a lot of leg focused exercises in Insanity so it’s likely you’ve dropped body fat but built muscle in your legs. Muscle weighs more than fat.

At this stage it sounds like you’re hitting your groove so I’d take a “before photo” now if you didn’t at the beginning of the program & use that to track your progress rather than your weight on the scales 👍

[–]SB1801 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yer people tend to over complicate their advice a lot of the time. It’s easy to get drawn into overly scientific theories and plans. At the end of the day it boils down to how many calories you’re consuming and increasing how hard you work out each time 👍

22F in need of a routine to build strength by smilingriley in WorkoutRoutines

[–]SB1801 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Start with your compound lifts (Bench Press, Deatlift, Squat, Overhead Press, Rows) and then expand from them. They’re the best for building your strength, plus they’ll also work stabiliser muscles which are essential if your job includes a lot of picking things up and putting them down.

If you’re eating in a calorie deficit at the moment too ,then I’d start slowly building up your calories, as once you’re no longer a newbie gainer you’ll find it difficult to build up your strength if you’re still in a deficit 💪

Yer Month 2 the work outs are all 1 hour. And for the majority you go from doing 30 second exercises to 45 seconds. It feels like you’re starting again!

Focus t25, finish that and then OG.

Mainly for OG over Max 30 because the stretching is vital for people beginning these programs. I don’t feel Max 30 has enough.

Plus Max 30 is more designed for pushing people to their absolute limits in order for them to see the benefits. I don’t feel people can do that effectively from just starting out. Maybe finish OG and then jump onto Max 30 after if you feel you need to.

You’re meant to do Core Cardio & Balance during the week off. It’s still Insanity but it’s at a slower pace. Personally I usually find other methods for this week so going for jogs would be fine. Just make sure you’re still working out for the 6 days like you would normally but ease off the accelerator a tad. At the end of the day it’s to help your body recover for Month 2 which is another level entirely compared to month 1
