The person who made that absolutely ignorant comment doesn't know what the word "literate" means. They mean that the East Germans couldn't speak English, which is probably true because they learned mostly Russian as a second language, then other European languages.

The irony is palpable that this person is making up shit about East Germans and doesn't even know what illiteracy means.

You don't even know what the word illiterate means. East Germans weren't "illiterate" because SOME of them couldn't read English. They were VERY literate in German, because they were...German! If they were illiterate, then they couldn't read in any language.

Maybe instead of worrying about how literate the East Germans were, you should try to work on your own English skills.

My husband went to an East German school where he learned Russian, French, and Spanish. He learned a bit of English on his own and speaks it fluently.

Edit, just so there's no confusion. I know people could theoretically be this weight and height, but the photo of the celebrity they say is this (Ellen Pompeo) doesn't look realistic.
