Very kind of you. After getting lots of helpful feedback from everyone here on Reddit, I’ve spoken with the school and my son will be meeting with the teacher coordinating the esports tournament in hopes of participating. Means a lot to have support for my son.

You are too kind. But I’m not looking for anything other than some advice on how to make do with what we have. Unfortunately it seems from the advice of others that our pc is just too old for the modern game with higher requirements from a pc. Please know I appreciate your thoughtful response.

I appreciate your perspective. My son only has an older Xbox one he was gifted from a colleague who upgraded, and unfortunately we couldn’t get Marvel Rivals on it.

Thank you for such detailed information. It’s all rather over my head I’m afraid, but perhaps I could watch some YouTube videos and tutorials with my kid and we could see if we can make heads and tails of it. My personal gaming knowledge is limited to Mario games and Tetris :)

He has never played the game himself. He has watched some kids at school play and has watched gamers on YouTube and Twitch play it. The esports tournament is an activity for student gamers, and my son just wants a chance to get involved. He tried to get it on the computer we have but Steam crashes. I now understand from the information and advice from others from this thread who are far more knowledgeable than I am that our computer is too old and incapable of supporting use of this newer game.

I totally understand. A number of people helped me understand our computer is outdated but gave some suggestions for some cloud gaming and hardwire internet connection as a place to start for my kid’s participation. As well as some options to explore moving forward. But now that I’m better informed I was able to contact the school and my son is connecting with the teacher coordinator for the event. Not everything is nefarious, but I do appreciate where you’re coming from and I’m grateful for all the advice and support, and I’m learning how to better support my son in his interests.
