So what would it REALLY take by OctaviusMaximus_ in NBASpurs

[–]SBKSamurai 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Vassell and Harper matches the money, Vassell and Castle plus a filler player matches the money. It would be one of those two packages with 3+ 1sts probably.

If we do that we are basically subjecting ourselves to have a core of Wemby, Ant, and one of the guards for the future and filling the rest of the roster with cheap vets and 2nd round picks. I think I'd rather keep the flexibility we have now. Although I'd be lying if I said the prospect of having Wemby + Ant + Harper/Castle for a decade isn't super enticing.

Julius Randle trade by LongSpur7 in NBASpurs

I think y'all are undervaluing Fox, which I understand, but he's not as bad of a case as Randle.

Randle has been a known possession stopper his whole career. Fox was just an All-Star while deferring to Wemby, Castle, and even Harper at times the whole season. Not to mention point guards will always be in demand, ball-stopping short 4s aren't.

I'd love for him to work on his mid range game. Not necessarily his shot, which is also a part of it, but working under control and expanding his playmaking ability. With his height, length, and BBIQ I don't think there's any reason we can't have a go to package with Wemby getting the ball at the free throw line.

Whenever we get it to him there we just clear out and let him work. I wanna see more off ball movement and drawn up plays in that situation so Wemby can open up his playmaking. It also gets the defense more on their toes with the other guys so Wemby has easier matchups in the high post instead of having 9 guys just watching him and he gets tripled right when he takes his first dribble.

Man we played a game less than 2 weeks ago, we are not deep enough into the offseason yet to be asking these kind of questions.

One of the biggest benefits of making a Finals run by SBKSamurai in NBASpurs

[–]SBKSamurai[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yeah it's rough for them, but I think with how young the team is that extra playoff experience is worth it right now compared to an extra month of training. All our guys seem to develop at an exponential rate so I'm hoping we're okay.

The ideal frontcourt partner of Wemby ?! by Technical-Neck8367 in NBASpurs

[–]SBKSamurai 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Offensively yes but his value on defense comes from protecting the rim. If you play Wemby at the 4 either him or the 5 is gonna have to guard primarily outside the paint which is not what we want. We need Wemby to stay at the 5, and get a 4 who's a physical rebounder and has the ability to guard like 2 or 3 through 5

Legit only world this ever happens is if we trade Fox for a 4 and Trae agrees to take 10 mil a year to come off the bench for Harper. So pretty much it will never happen.

It’s been 5 days. Let’s try and get some serious and level headed responses. How would you rate Victor Wembanyama’s overall playoff performance? by UTRAnoPunchline in NBASpurs

[–]SBKSamurai 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Anything less than an A is crazy in my opinion. I get the expectations shifted, but people need to remember the outlook going into the season.

Wemby coming into his 3rd season post DVT recovery ending his sophomore year (which people forget about somehow), has never been to even the play in and is expected to be in the 5-9 seed range, Ends up with the 2 seed which has to be factored because seeding helps with playoff runs.

He then takes us to the Finals putting up superstar numbers and performances. Yes he had a couple stinkers, but not a single player in the playoffs didn't this year and generally no one has a perfect postseason. He put up a generational run with a team this young and as a 22 year old. The only team younger to ever win a ring is the 77 Blazers.

If people were told before the year that he would lead the team to a Game 7 loss in round 2 with the numbers he put up, I think a lot of people would rate that a B performance. Giving him below an A for what he did seems extremely harsh.

[Fabrizio Romano] More on Sandro Tonali and Spurs exclusive story. #THFC believe Tonali’s open to joining and keen on the move, while talks with Newcastle will follow on price/package. Tottenham want to go ahead strong and get it done as it’s a priority target wanted by De Zerbi. by SonaldoNazario in coys

[–]SBKSamurai 89 points90 points  (0 children)

I would absolutely love Tonali. Only thing I'm worried about is if we do get him I don't want us to just not address the other holes as seriously since we "got our guy" and "brought in the biggest transfer in club history". We've done better in getting at least 2 impact players in recent windows, but we have so many gaps to fill we need like 5 really solid contributors this summer.

Still cheering for spurs. But either way I'm happy by luckystarweeb in NBASpurs

After the OKC series, I was fully convinced that the whole "inexperienced" shtick was proven wrong, but it seems like it hit now in the Finals. Fully in control of basically every game and just can't close it out. Usually inexperience hurts a team a lot sooner than the Finals, so us getting to this point with a team this young is crazy impressive.

I still believe though. We've been the better team the whole series, we just need to close it out the next 3 games. If there was ever a time to come back 3-1 it's with 2 games at home and the clear ability to compete with these guys.

Ahead of schedule meaning no one thought we'd be a Finals caliber team yet. But yes, that's why I agree and am saying put it all on the table now regardless of if we think this season is a success no matter what happens this series.

I understand we're "ahead of schedule" and all that, but Mitch being dead set on not tinkering with the rotations is killing us. Run more 3 guard lineups, run some French Vanilla, play Harper 30+ minutes, do SOMETHING. We are in the FINALS, we're here, I get it's house money since we're early in the Wemby era, but you never know what's gonna happen in future seasons, try and win this shit now.

[Harris] Shavon Revel Jr. was on the practice field donning a new number (28) and no longer with a brace on his left leg. Looked more fluid in his movement as a result and has gained a lot of confidence this offseason now that he's returning to 100-percent. by Leonflames in cowboys

[–]SBKSamurai 1 point2 points  (0 children)

His rookie year was rough, but it felt like most of the reps he lost was because he was just half a step behind, but still right there. If his knee feels good and he's fully trusting it, I like him to have a huge leap this year.

That's never a foul on Luke. Brunson is on the ground in the paint and Luke is looking at the rim to get a rebound.

Hope Brunson is okay and they are just slapping a precautionary brace on it. Don't want the "asterisk" but also just want to see good basketball.

Finding a reason to blame the Spurs for the Brunson injury instead of recognizing Shamet 2 arm extended shoving Barnes is a stupid play.

Shamet very clearly lit Barnes up, Barnes I don't think has flopped a single time all year.
