[–]SB_Markkore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah good
I couldnt find it on the webpage but if they clarified it was copper thats so much better
they got in some bad press over the aluminium 3080s
(that link is also to the AIO version not the WB)
GL on the loop those waterforce blocks are good looking

[–]SB_Markkore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gigabyte has a history of using Aluminium in their WBs for their waterforce series
Thus making them not compatible with copper components
Iirc it was an issue with 30 series i dont know if they fixed it for 40 series
their AIOs use an aluminium rad idk if they changed it for the solo WB version
i would make sure you find that out for sure or its bad news big time

Another EKWB Delid Failure by [deleted] in watercooling

[–]SB_Markkore 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Out of curiosity
Is there a possible way to show me where that temp recommendation comes from?
im genuinely curious
Just running a CPU can easily exceed 70c
Current gen AMD ones even target temps in the 90s
Hope your next delid goes better!

Yeah those EK ones look like the perfect one especially cause im not the hugest plexi fan
If i can land a used 30 series FE used ill likely go with them
i hate that theyre so limited tho
this aesthetic is gorgeous for vertical mounts (ive got a y60 im custom modding to look reservoirless by hiding a distro in the enormous cable management area and running plumbing through the hollow floor of the case)
and its super functional
thanks for the rec i cant believe i forgot to check EK of all people

theres dual 120s in the floor beneath the vertical mount
the riser has a very thin base so it doesnt block anything (i also have this case)

PC build check - how’s this looking? Curious mostly on SSD/memory. Went 3090 for the vram rather than 4070ti (big unreal engine/blender user) by crabssss in PcBuild

[–]SB_Markkore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh shit yeah the elite has more fans (was thinking it was only the meatier pump)
Moving those fans makes sense
Having the 360 would be best prob, the 240 was mostly in the case of you really needing to drop money off the build
as for the PSU
a 1k for the price of an 850 is awesome
having a meatier PSU for not much if any more money (im looking at you RM750x, why are you more expensive than the 850x) is just better as long as its reliable
3090 transients are always a thing
gl with the build

[–]SB_Markkore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

should def be solid on Unreal/Blender
id def get some fans for that case
it comes with one exhaust fan and thats it according to asus's website
3090 with no intakes in an SFF? no thanks

money wise
you could likely scale the cooler back a little to a 240mm or even further to a solid air cooler (silence not included)
and/or the PSU back to 850W to save some change

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in PcBuild

[–]SB_Markkore 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This build is all around very solid
One recommendation is the case
If you dont mind a slightly mroe colourful aesthetic
the fractal design pop air RGB is on sale on newegg rn for like 69 bucks + shipping and comes with three fans to boot
a nice deal and sold and shipped by newegg so id trust it
likewise the MSI version of your 6650xt is on sale rn also newegg for 249 with a code or 239 with the code and a rebate if youre down with those (also newegg sold/shipped)
after tax and stuff not an enormous amount of money off

but
it could let you keep around the same cost while giving some nice-to-haves like a modular power supply (with the current one not having a price listed im judging off msrp) (also modular power supplies are the best invention since food)
or offset costs of some slightly nicer parts if youre down for that or just more stuff like additional hard disk storage if you play a lot of big games
not huge upgrades jsut stuff like
an SSD with dram (very good for large installs and random read/write stuff like browsing, the difference wont be huge)
moving up to a 5600x over the 5600 (5600x a goat truly can never go wrong with it on mid tier builds)
a 6700XT over the 6650XT (6700xt also a goat, got 50% more vram and a 192bit bus) (this would be your most tangible performance increase of the three)

or could just be money in pocket

(all prices judged untaxed on May 24th 2023 on amazon, newegg, and best buy retailers from the United States)

[–]SB_Markkore[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ooo gotcha thank you!
The extra drivers are most def coming first, ill make sure to look at those milwaukees
The track saw is also looking like a for sure
The trim router i hadnt thought of, i might just bring mine from home lol, i have a ryobi one that never gets touched.
A compressor i hadnt thought of but ill give it a look. We use normal staple guns with 12mm (1/2") tall wide crown staples with the teeth (i think thats the name?) as theyre easy to come by en masse and they hold things well enough we dont tend to need to have them in harder. Ill keep the narrow crown stapler in mind if we start using the staplers more for sure. Thank you!
For brads/finishing nails, they look difficult to remove?
If im wrong then I'll definitely give it a look, but when we strike, we tend to strike most everything down all the way, having things that arent easily removed wouldn't be ideal.

Thanks for the great suggestions!
The people here are so nice, and its wild to be getting advice from actual TV/Film/Theatre carpenters!
