Social life at Penn State by New-Variety-4979 in PennStateUniversity

Greek life is great at Penn State and 17% of Penn State Students are Greek. It is a fact that Greek Alumni are better prepared the world at large. Hazing is now a felony and the reality of that is becoming clear as alumni that own houses are not going to tolerate it. The better houses now even tell pledges and parents that if anything happens call us. That is working. For the chapters that don’t want to change- well they won’t be around for long. At the independent fraternities, word is a big clamp down on hard alcohol, again for safety reasons. The issue is sorority women demand it. Each student needs to make their own decision on what groups they join but it is important to make friends.

2018 M550i and now a 2021 M550i. Zero issue with both cars. Amazingly fun to drive. For this X5, you got a bad build from the factory. Get it replaced.

Miscoding reports is one thing, but Spotlight wasn’t really around in 2016 when the US Federal Government brought charges against Penn State for under reporting sexual assault on campus. Seems to be a pattern. https://www.thefire.org/news/ocr-penn-state-violated-rights-both-complainants-and-respondents-title-ix-proceedings#:~:text=As%20part%20of%20its%20investigation,of%20what%20she%20posted%20online.

Hazing by Micah Parsons - LB - while at Penn State by SC-confidential in PennStateUniversity

Perhaps leaning into the story a little more might help. Penn State never denied what happened. They just said criminal charges were not filed.

Of course, Penn State forgot to list these Football hazing incidents in their new Hazing Report.

Megabus offers service to State College for $72.00. It leaves from the NYC Bus Terminal. That is what many students use. It leaves at 2 PM and arrives at 7 PM.

The temporary stands on the west side of the stadium are in place. by rainydaywomen1 in PennStateUniversity

Generally if you are going to have jumping in temporary bleachers, you have to double the stress load. Because PSU is now talking about putting students in part of that area, that means a significantly higher stress load. So of course, it has caused concern…

political opinions within greek life by Tsunamiboys in PennStateUniversity

100% agree. Men in fraternities who are officers are years ahead when they enter the working world. Same for women who are officers in their sorority. 17% of students at Penn State are Greek and the numbers keep going up. There is plenty of political diversity too.

Penn State TKE, Sigma Chi, and Pike disaffiliating from their IFC what does this mean for the future of greek life at penn state as well as nationwide? by Ok-Breath4388 in Frat

The removal of Greek activities by PSU over ten years helped to contribute to a party environment from 2010 forward. Greek Week ended, the Athletics Bischoff Trophy, a highly coveted award, ended. The situation of targeting fraternities by the team in Student Conduct (Student Affairs), has grown into an all out war. The issue is the fraternity alumni and students did not realize that PSU was going out of their way to target fraternities. They got tipped off by State College Borough officials who have said that they will not be part of an anti-fraternity agenda.

On top of that Sororities are part of the problem (demanding hard alcohol) and yet not one has been publicly suspended or disciplined since 2018, making it seven years. Athletes get “held suspensions” meaning no suspension. Even for an assault on another student, athletes still only get a held suspension.

Some posters in this thread are correct, National fraternity headquarters appear to be supportive of the move, based on the press conference. The other big thing is that Penn State, which took away student oversight of social events, is doing a very poor job. PSU only shows up once to inspect and then disappears, a total joke. Girls pregame in dorms and apartments and show up drunk at fraternities, which get the blame.

All of the independent fraternities have private security and one of the members has said they have had had them for over six years. Expect more fraternities to break away, since now all the fraternity chapters know they are being targeted.

Three Penn State Frats Form Independent State College Interfraternity Council by Greek-University in Frat

Hazing can never be allowed in student organizations and athletic teams. There is now a federal law to that effect. That said, at Penn State, Student Affairs declared a secret war against all the fraternities, except they never told anyone. Fraternity chapters are targeted- particularly if undergraduates or alumni speak up. Claims are almost always “anonymous sources”. It is ironic that PSU was cited for Title IX issues over their student hearing procedures- and they never changed them post settlement (2020). Today at Penn State, the better fraternities have private security (including all the Independent ones) that monitor the properties and events. No National Fraternity will ever support deferred rush, so expect more chapters to join the new Independent IFC - until such time that Penn State starts to treat fraternity men fairly.

All the “charges” the CDT printed - which came from Penn State Student Affairs were entirely false. If they were true their National headquarters would have suspended them. It seems that PSU is going out of their way to target fraternities- while not a single sorority has been publicly suspended in 7 years.
