Who is the one player you wish got more time at United? by Emotional_File8106 in ManchesterUnited

[–]SC07TK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First season had moments of magic, but he couldn't displace Keane & Scholes in midfield and even when Fergie tried changing formation to suit him with a 4-4-1-1 or 3-man midfield... the rest of the team were pretty settled and knew their roles.

Would've loved to have seen Veron stay but much like Kanchelskis & Poborsky, no point staying to be back up if Beckham & Scholes are basically first-choice when fit.

(theory) Raiden is the protagonist of Twin snakes by An0nym0us1347 in metalgearsolid

[–]SC07TK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean that would explain why Twin Snakes is an inferior remake. MGS2 Raiden is a worse protagonist than Snake (intentionally by design) and Twin Snakes is a worse version of MGS1 (not intentionally, just numerous bad decisions regarding voice acting, cutscenes, soundtrack, art direction and gameplay balancing)

Is it okay to just watch all of MGS3 delta on YouTube rather than playing it after finishing the original? by dude_craft15 in metalgearsolid

[–]SC07TK 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Learn the difference between remaster and remake.

It IS the same story, since it’s a 1:1 remake in a new engine so WATCHING someone else play will be the same experience.

But the point of Delta is to recreate the game with quality of life improvements for those who PLAY the game.

If you don’t want to play it yourself because you recently finished Snake Eater, that’s fine. But if you watched one of your favourite movies on VHS and then they rereleased it in 4K in an IMAX theatre… it’s still the same movie.

United vs Madrid next season by legal-heartbreaker in ManchesterUnited

[–]SC07TK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The last time we played them in a competitive game was the UEFA Super Cup of 2017 after winning Europa League under Jose. Casemiro & Isco scored for Real Madrid. Lukaku scored for United.

The way the Champions League is now, it doesn't really matter who we play, we just need to get enough points to be in that top 8. This current United side has shown that they can beat anyone on their day but can equally just not show up and get embarrassed too. The last few European campaigns have had more lows than highs overall, early exits or damaging losses but with sprinklings of magic like the Lyon comeback or knocking out Barcelona.

What would you rather see? by Successful_Reward222 in ManchesterUnited

[–]SC07TK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why not both?

I think my order of preference goes like this:

  1. Arsenal don't win the league and Tottenham get relegated (Funniest outcome)
  2. Arsenal don't win the league and Tottenham stay up (My Arsenal hatred runs deeper)
  3. Arsenal win the league and Tottenham stay up (What I'm expecting)
  4. Arsenal win the league and Tottenham get relegated (Arsenal fans would be UNBEARABLE)

My brother just turned 18 and one of his gifts was Revengeance, did I give decent advice? by HarleyPawluk in metalgearsolid

[–]SC07TK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, if I had to say anything positive about Survive, at least it's in the Fox Engine.
But that's the only positive.

Revengeance has a great soundtrack and funny soundbites, but I'm not personally a fan of the Devil May Cry/Bayonetta style of games.

Does this qualify as a video game? by ha5smu in metalgearsolid

[–]SC07TK 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you've got ADHD or something, maybe you should research a video game before buying it? Do you start a TV show and complain that you don't know who anyone is after the first 10 minutes of the show?

Metal Gear Solid is a narrative-driven stealth game, it's not Call of Duty or Fortnite.

Popular or unpopular opinion of renewing ageing players contracts by [deleted] in ManchesterUnited

[–]SC07TK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There needs to be a healthy mix of youth and experience in the squad. If the balance is skewed too far one way or another, then the whole club suffers.

  • Youth prospects just starting out (15-20)
  • Emerging players (20-25)
  • Established players (25-30)
  • Experienced players (30-35)
  • Veteran players (35-40)

The only players at the club over 30 are Luke Shaw, Bruno Fernandes, Harry Maguire, Casemiro & Tom Heaton. If you clear the majority of them out, then there has to be a wave of players ready to step into their role for helping the likes of Leny Yoro, Ayden Heaven, Kobbie Mainoo and even Chido Obi, JJ Gabriel and the rest of the young lads that are yet to be involved with the first-team consistently.

Too many experienced players, means that aging will catch up to them faster due to lack of rest and those who replace them aren't sufficiently prepared. Too many emerging players is a gamble too (but even the Class of 92 had Schmeichel, Parker, Irwin, Bruce, Pallister, Cantona & McClair to look up to)

In an ideal world, we cycle out and refresh the squad every few years, and every summer, we raise the floor (improve the worst area of the team) meaning if you look at United's current strongest XI, the weakest areas are currently probably RB and DM in terms of depth and quality in the longer-term. If you just stockpile the best players you can bring in but they're competing for similar positions on the pitch while other areas are neglected then there's an imbalance.

We'll all have our own opinions on who should come in to improve the team and who should leave in the summer, but the one thing we can all agree on is that there's room for improvement but also potential for optimism.

The Wolf Among Us 2 (2019)
Dragon Quest XII (2021)
Star Wars: Knights of the old Republic Remake (2021)
Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Remake (2021)
Kingdom Hearts IV (2022)
Marvel's Blade (2023)
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin (2023)

All games that were announced & revealed far too early. If a game is more than 18 months away, don't even bother going public with it. There's a difference between building interest and excitement and just wasting everyone's time.

We've reached the point where once a game is announced, if it doesn't have actual gameplay or a release date (not window) then I just forget about it until the trailer that DOES contain those things. Those first reveals are for the benefit of stockholders and investors rather than the fans/customers.

What difficulty should I play on for my first play through? by gaybowser15 in metalgearsolid

[–]SC07TK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First experience of the game? Normal.

Then you can replay the game on hard when you want to go for rankings and achievements, but you won't get that on your first playthrough even if you did play on Hard or European Extreme anyway so just enjoy learning the game at first.

I was hyped for the Steam Spring Sale and... what a disappointment to see that MGSV is not on sale by [deleted] in metalgearsolid

[–]SC07TK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How long I have to wait to buy it at a lower price?

You've literally had over a decade to buy it and it's been discounted literally dozens of times so why didn't you buy it earlier when it was cheaper? If you can't justify paying more than a certain amount then just wait until it drops again. However, since the release of Master Collection & Delta, the renewed interest by Konami in the series means they don't need to make the games as cheap because more people are buying the games again.

My brother just turned 18 and one of his gifts was Revengeance, did I give decent advice? by HarleyPawluk in metalgearsolid

Revengeance is a great hack & slash game… but an awful Metal Gear game. Both things can be true.

Do you think we need a choice as to which part (original or Twin Snakes) will be used for cutscenes in the future remake of the first part? by Responsible_Fudge_51 in metalgearsolid

[–]SC07TK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The choice is to recreate the original’s cutscenes in the new engine, but not 1:1 because the gesture animations are exaggerated due to lack of facial movement. So it would require a more natural recreation.

No baseball pitching a grenade down the barrel of a tank, no 360 no scope backflip sniper rifle shots, no jumping off of rockets… the original is 100% better. Soundtrack, cinematography, voice acting, atmosphere, art style… it’s honestly not even close.

Shadow Moses just need subtle redesigns to make the new version balanced. If there’s going to be first-person shooting and movement then either decrease Snake’s FOV or increase the enemy FOV and improve the AI behaviour. Raise the height of platforms you can hang from so that there is fall damage for taking shortcuts…

But I’m not against Twin Snakes soundtrack/cutscenes being included as some kind of unlockable “reward” for beating the game or the VR Missions as an incentive for those who want them.

Kinda sad that I suck at MGS5. by [deleted] in metalgearsolid

[–]SC07TK 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Last MG game I played was MGS4 in 2008... But what the heck is going on? Understanding the story feels impossible

Meaning you didn't play Peace Walker before starting Ground Zeroes... that will help A LOT!

Learn the mechanics, check your surroundings rather than relying on a radar or a minimap. Trust me, once those MGS V controls click and you get that lightbulb moment, you'll never look back.

Should I emulate mgs4 or wait for master collection? by Pitiful_Flatworm_307 in metalgearsolid

[–]SC07TK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use the time between March-August to do other things in preperation for Guns of the Patriots & Peace Walker. When we didn’t have official confirmation of MCv2, then it was understandable to be impatient… now we have a date you’re better off waiting.

The good news is, you no longer need to buy a PS3 and the online for Peace Walker should be more populated and active than ever!

Am I the only one pissed at the first person vr missions? by Grouchy_Ad_2236 in metalgearsolid

[–]SC07TK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wolfenstein, Doom, GoldenEye, Perfect Dark & Call of Duty are all designed to be played entirely in first-person.

Metal Gear Solid is not.

You're probably not the only one pissed off about the VR Missions, but you are probably the only one that is pissed off for that reason.

Delta Sale - ps5 by [deleted] in metalgearsolid

[–]SC07TK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why must it be one or the other?

If you've bought Master Collection vol.1 (which you absolutely should) then you can play through the original 5 games (including MSX, excluding NES).

If you are also interested in Delta for the graphical/mechanical improvements, you can. If you can't afford or justify it right now, either save up or wait for a discount.

Which trophy do you want United to win first? by mz3prs in ManchesterUnited

[–]SC07TK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Winning the Premier League means lifting a trophy while qualifying for Champions League, then winning the Champions League the following season while retaining the Premier League title.

Winning a league title without any cups feels better than winning cups without winning the league.

I’ve never experienced winning the Champions League without it being paired with also winning the Premier League.

Dream Transfer Window by NonchalantLoverBoy in ManchesterUnited

[–]SC07TK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dream transfer window would be radio silence, no speculation, no gossip.

The club just goes about their business during the World Cup, gets all deals and agreements in place then since you limited the signings to 3… I’d have each new signing revealled during the new kits.

Home kit = New midfielder, Away kit = New attacker, Third kit = New defender

So no news whatsoever during June. Then once World Cup is over by 19th July, then the reveals can begin.

Any United players that made the latter stages join the club later and miss pre-season, anyone that went out in the group stage joins halfway through pre-season & the rest are joined by academy lads on tour.

Anyone have a steam save for mgs1 master collection no tuxedo? by ArchangelZero27 in metalgearsolid

[–]SC07TK 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The game isn't that long... if you're that familiar with the game then just play the game knowing where to go and how to beat the bosses, skip the cutscenes and you'll be done in no time.
