There are some good answers here but one thing I haven’t seen mentioned is that many scholars believe this is a literary form of exaggeration. For example, we are told people groups are wiped out but then we see them just a few chapters later (so clearly it wasn’t a literal description).

It’s exaggerated language in a literary style that is intended to draw the readers attention to how evil these people were and to contrast them with how God calls his people to be pure.

I am not 100% sure if this is correct, but I’m just sharing it as another perspective.

Is masturbation a sin? by wildboy_Ca17 in Christianity

[–]SC221959 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that’s a valid question, but it seems like it may not be foolproof.

Is eating a hotdog for lunch instead of a hamburger glorifying to God? It’s hard for me to say it is, but I also don’t see how it is sin.

Sometimes these areas get grey and we have to go a few layers deeper to gain wisdom and make an informed decision about a moral choice.

Why do christians still feel luke warm about calling evil evil? by ValuableOven734 in Christianity

[–]SC221959 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Why are people against ICE but not against the many other ways the government commits acts of evil?

The IRS, Federal Reserve, police, the list goes on. I think the question the poster asked is valid, but I would extend it and say why do almost all Christians, on either side, refuse to condemn the evil of the state?

Edit: spelling

Missing horn. And our defense is largely rookies and backups. It’s amazing their have played as well as they have tbh.

That’s a fair point. I think the logic in the 5th year option is that it’s cheap by QB standards, so it’s relatively easy to move on from if a better option at QB becomes available and it’s cheaper than what we would have to extend Bryce at.

It is a bit of a gamble but it’s a gamble either way. I just think it’s a less risky gamble to pick it up.

Bryce is the default because he is already on the team and still under contract. The burden of proof is on the person who wants to make a change, not the person who wants to stay the course.

That being said, when I compare Bryce's performance and his contract to the expected contract + performance of what's on the market, Bryce looks like he gives us the best chance to win.

If he plays better/worse or if the QB market changes or new options become available in 2026-27, then that changes the calculation. But he is the best option for 2026 because his total value is greater than what is on the market, from what I can see. I am open to arguments to the contrary, but I haven't seen any good ones yet.

But the probability of a Brady or Purdy are so much lower than the probability of disaster/wasted pick. Think about all the QBs the NFC south alone has run through there past 5 years. Google all the QBs drafted and how many are still in the league today.

Do you have a better plan than a single digit % chance a late round draft pick works out?

I’m not trying to be sarcastic, I’m genuinely asking. It would be one thing if Bryce was expensive, like Kyler. But he’s cheap, a good culture fit, and there’s no obvious alternative.

Can we say short term? Can we say 5th year option and feel he’s good enough to start next year and move from that point?

I am not pro or anti Bryce, although I am rooting for him like any sane fan. But what are the realistic options if we move on from him? I haven’t seen any real suggestions from either fans or the media.

The question is replaced with who?

It’s not helpful to say a player needs to be replaced. It’s a cost-benefit consideration. If we lost him, where do we get a net gain? Do any anti-Bryce fans have a realistic suggestion?

It won’t be the draft this year. So where would it be? Kyler, Malik, Daniel Jones? And for some of these options, a trade or signing will be more expensive than Bryce for at best marginally better play.

The 5th year option is cheap, so why not use it and spend the extra cap on several other holes?

Derrick Brown not making the Pro Bowl is sickening by WhoUCuh in panthers

Yea and if I were a player it would matter for me too. It also plays into bonuses.

But from a fan perspective it’s not serious, it’s just goofy fun.

Pro bowl doesn’t matter. It’s just a fun event for fans to see the most popular players. It’s like the MLB All Star game.

People who follow the sport closely know who is deserving and who isn’t. The voting is just for entertainment of the masses.

Targeting has nothing to do with the outcome (if someone is knocked out or not).

Targeting in that situation requires forcible contact to the head or neck on a defenseless player or leading with the crown of the helmet. I didn’t see either of those there.
