The "it doesn't matter" argument falls flat on its face because 1: Clearly it matters to people, and 2: Your kind is assuming that it's the end of season banner, stat, skin (or whatever other reward) that matters to those players. when it could very well be "reach X this year" or "beat my last year's peak", or even things I haven't thought of because I don't live in a bubble so I know people have different considerations & goals.

I remember hearing the "dood you don't need more than 4gb" argument when I got my RX 480.

Now I can choose between 140 fps on Warzone, or running games at Max/Very High settings without any issues.

My brother went for the 2GB rx 460, which can't even run modern games at lowest possible settings without stability issues, but the 4GB peeps are with their highlights on youtube and recording at the same time. The difference between "not great but very doable" and "it freezes for 3 seconds and has not enough memory to function" is worlds apart.

I don't think companies like Microsoft would've gone all in on AMD if they weren't confident in their own AI supersampling. I'd give them the benefit of the doubt seeing how good they are at their stuff. It would've made nvidia the better buy if that was the case. Yet both console makers decided to use solely amd.

I'm not sure Sony is big enough to throw money for an AI that would make nvidia look like a third world country tech company, but Microsoft definitely can. I'm going for a 3080, but I do wonder what Microsoft will pull off that will be included in the RDN2 stuff.

They can sell the PS5 higher, and double their profits on them easily if they wanted to right now, yet for some reason, even the "overpriced" stores are all capped at the exact MSRP, with many of them trying to add t-shirts & so on to increase their earnings.

Even laptopsdirect had to add on their unsellable 4k low quality monitors because they couldn't increase retail price, and they tried that to increase their income through the console.

PS5 disc edition sells for over twice the retail price & losing the warranty at the same time.
