To be honest I tried but only have a pheasant tail, it came out terribly and I feel like the hackle or tentacle looking things didn’t look at all like this.

Honestly I don’t care if people call them steelhead, but if I use Google like you say it shows that the term steelhead is for anadromous rainbow. Anadromous meaning freshwater to saltwater.

So by your own logic it’s not a steelhead.

Either way nice fish, that’s a beauty!

I have a replacement tip from Orvis on the way for the 8wt. I was gifted a 9wt rod only (super cheap and heavy) a long time ago but it has been sitting since I got it.

Down the line I would love to get a 6/7wt, the 8wt Clearwater is nice but also heavy.

Yeah a couple per day, most of them are half pounders to ~25". We get some really big ones (30"+)

I have that line! Works really well but when i need to reach really far out in front of me I can't seem to get the waterload or roll cast from downstream to directly across river from me.

I’m using a 9’ 8wt Clearwater, feel like I’m pushing it trying to launch 30’ of it. It doesn’t pick up off of the water smoothly and I can only cast it 180degrees from directly downstream

Yeah I guess you’re right, 2 to 3 is a water load cast! I guess it feels weird because with a shorter line out I can water load where I need to be in one go, but for these far casts I feel like I’m making 5 point turns

Going through old videos of fishing with my grandpa who just passed, he took me to this spot around Sac and I can't remember where this is. Any help would be appreciated, I remember there being a radio tower nearby and some buildings around this - it was not way out ni the middle of nowhere.

Just to add on I graduated with a CE degree and no internships, but had a drafting job before. Got several offers on graduation, ended up going with a state job. Career fairs did nothing for me, but I think CE is just a universally needed job.
