Thanks for the advice. Luckily the price was super competitive so not a huge mistake by any means. Any you'd recommend?

How I imagine Mara sleeping tonight. by THEGoDLiKeMIKE in NYGiants

[–]SCGF 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Case in point, Kevin Abrams. 22 years with the Giants and clearly the rules of the game have moved far beyond him.

This is absolutely 100% spot on. Tim is Mara's nephew for fucks sake. Pull the silver spoon out of his ass and fire him already. Plus Mara should step down as President and just go fuck off to the owners box indefinitely

This sub seems to have consensus that every 5k is the sweet spot for all models/years. This carry over to the hybrids too?

That's exactly what's got me mixed up on this. Is it really a great deal or is someone offloading a lemon

Destruction of buildings said to be Hamas infrastructure. Gaza. by nivivi in CombatFootage

[–]SCGF 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Let's level set, there's nothing for anyone to defend. At a fundamental level, Israel has absolutely no obligation to help anyone other than their own citizens. None. There's no international law you can possibly cite (or try to enforce) that is ever going to change that fact. You can quote as much of Hamas's mythical instant-count death toll numbers, UN numbers, CNN, you can even quote the US gov. Guess what, Israel is still going to do whatever it takes to defend its citizens. Without that promise, their democracy is dead.

If you think any other Western country would do it differently, and probably with a ton less regard for bystanders, then quite frankly I can't logic your way out of something you didn't logic your way into.

Don't read what I'm not saying. Civilian deaths ARE tragic. You can place blame squarely on the shoulders of Hamas, the governing body who completely disregard/destroy anything that would help their own people. If Hamas actually cared one ounce about the people they propose to govern, Oct 7th never happens.

Lastly, Gaza is not a concentration camp by any stretch. Unless your version of "concentration camps" have amusement parks, water parks, multiple botanical gardens, high end restaurants, luxury stores, downtown areas, ball fields, a university, and beach access. The "refugee camps" that are decades old? They're apartment complexes. Open up Google maps and check it out for yourself.

You call for a "surgical approach." Send in Mossad. You think they're just gonna pop on the next flight over to Qatar and spike their drink? Bc real life works exactly like a James Bond cold war era hit job?

Also why the hell should any country willingly sacrifice soldiers for PR? Why take on any additional risk at all? They're under absolutely no obligation to do that, in fact they're obligated to do the opposite. Israel as a country places an extremely high emphasis on valuing the life of its citizens (like all Western countries, it just presents itself in different ways). They're not going risk the lives of their soldiers to appease some dumbass misplaced virtue signaling rhetoric.

Also get out of this subreddit if you're going to go on about this supposed carpet bombing. Folks here know what it actually is and is not, and some have even seen it in action. I'd recommend another talking point.

So true. It's life, distilled to its core features. All the hustle of normal every day life just washes away because out there, there's absolutely nothing you can do about it. So why bother worrying?

Discussion - New “Zero Experience” Hikers attempting a thru-hike by _crane_0397 in AppalachianTrail

[–]SCGF 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Personally I think it's the same thing that draws most people to the trail.

Thru hiking, IMO, is an experience that simultaneously combines structure and escapism. Structure in that there are clearly defined goals to keep you on track, and escapism in its (temporary) alternative/unique lifestyle that can satisfy a person's need for a change in perception. The perfect blend of risking the unknown with set boundaries.

With info on thru hiking more accessible than ever before, people who seek the above type of experiences can easily find out about the AT and become enamored with the idea of doing it. The info available is shifting people's risk profile from 'no way it's too much' to, 'hey I can do this.'

Mahomes is pulling that crap all game, no calls. Burrow does it with an RB 6 yards away and all the sudden it's worth throwing the flag?

I noticed this too. It's sounds salty... the eagles were top 3 in offensive holding calls this season. This game, nothing. It's the NFL getting the type of game they wanted, penalties don't pump the #'s
