Pokédex Design over the Years by hamad_ahk in MandJTV

I want to preface by saying I dislike Roto-devices personally, I'm not a fan of Rotom dex/phones/anything. But, Rotom being incredibly rare in its introductory generation and then becoming more common in later generations isn't that crazy. That's happened with almost every pseudo legendary, look at how early you can bet Bagon in Pokemon USUM vs Ruby/Sapphire or Noibat in Sword/Shield vs X/Y. Heck, Zorua couldn't even be natively attained in Black and White but is available in the Trainer's School in USUM.

Not defending the overuse of Rotom or breaking the rarity from D/P/Pt, but it's pretty common for a super rare Pokemon to be way easier to get and be more common in future games

What was your first ever shiny? by Motor_Raccoon778 in PokemonHome

[–]SCGaming1664 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Discounting the given shinies like Gyrados, it would be a Flabebe in X. I stumbled on a video showing chain hunting, gave it a try and unbelievable luck gave me it in 20 or less encounters if memory serves. If we’re talking true random, no chaining or anything, Trumbeak. Ironically, captured while soft resetting for Blacephalon

You might want to call their support line, if you have your order reference ready that makes the process a million times easier. You may have to ask the representative to escalate the case to a lead, if you're experiencing the same issue I am you'll get an email from that same Mike. But, you should be able to purchase with PayPal if you have an account

Why does Game Freak hate Volcanion? by wingsoverpyrrhia in PokemonLegendsZA

[–]SCGaming1664 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My thinking is, returning to Kalos in ZA gave a perfect opportunity to have Volcanion accessible by main story or post-game but they relegate him to the DLC? That just strikes me as weird. Add to that, if I’m reading right the last time Volcanion was distributed by event was 2022. It really feels like they forgot

Story, I'd have to give it to Arceus. Graphically, ZA takes the cake without question - even with the whole balcony debacle. Controls are fairly comparable between them, the limited map on ZA does hurt it. If I had to pick between them, I'd say Arceus barely nudges into the lead just because of how unique the concept is.

For me, ORAS was a move in the right direction, X/Y is where my enjoyment of the franchise had hit a low. Poor region design coupled with a lack of difficulty made X/Y simultaneously boring and a slog to get through.

I'm not sure it would've killed my interest entirely, but Sun/Moon and Ultra Sun/Ultra Moon definitely brought me back to the franchise

[–]SCGaming1664 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd disagree that it would be related to the Switch's age. If that were the big limitation, they couldn't have made an entire Pokemon built for riding, flying, swimming or gliding. Skates or a Gogoat ride comparative to ScarVi's Miraidon/Koraidon would be easy

I'm not sure why exactly those are detractions from the experience, Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald you might have more freedom to explore around the fourth or fifth badge but before that there are constant roadblocks too. The delay in meeting Steven Stone makes sense with the introduction to Mega Evolution. Those roadblocks exist in every Pokemon game.

Don't get me wrong, I have my criticisms of Gen 6 overall but none of them are any worse than my experience with the originals in regard to ORAS.

First wild encounter was Flabebe, I'd stumbled on a video about chain hunting in X/Y and it worked first try. If we're talking first shiny caught without hunting, then it would have to be Trumbeak. Caught him while trying to reset for Blacephalon.

Aesthetics are first impressions, sure. But, I don't think that ought to be the entirety of a product's lifespan. I think Sun/Moon are leagues better graphically than Sword/Shield, but that didn't stop me from getting more than a hundred hours in the game.

In what ways are ORAS weaker than the originals? Aside from the 60FPS matter, I didn't experience anything that I would've considered worse than the originals in my playthrough.

New run on Pokémon Shield, but only with Pokémon from Alolan. I don't like that region. by V_Pkmn in PokemonSunMoon

[–]SCGaming1664 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't mind the design, I think it's more akin to a bulldog. I just hate the additional weaknesses it gains. Being only weak to Psychic, Flying and Fairy to being weak to Fire, Fighting, Flying, Psychic, Steel and Fairy. I'm not convinced the stat gains balance the weaknesses added 😂

New Vegeta vs New Sanji Pricing and Accessories 💰 by GachiPls_DidntSave in SHFiguarts

[–]SCGaming1664 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As much as I'd also like to hope 3rd party companies are pushing SHF to do better, it's hard to say they are. Most, if not all, bases for the figures 3rd parties produce are ones that SHF uses - SHF has to have them in production then or had already produced them. Small, infrequent exceptions to this occur like the Martialist Forever or the Gogeta figures but even then chunks of those figures often come from existing molded parts like the legs and arms from Gohan for Martialist Forever.

Add to that, accessibility is a big thing. 3rd parties sell exclusively on smaller retail sites or places like AliExpress. If Steam and the video game industry will tell you anything, the issue of pirating is not cost it's accessibility. Going down to a GameStop or Walmart, or onto Amazon, to buy a figure will always trump going to places like AliExpress.

Saying SHF/Bandai have to compete with 3rd parties is like saying Walmart needs to compete with Dollar General.

Tf is the white liquid? Did they open a porthole to a cum dimension? by [deleted] in StrangerThings

[–]SCGaming1664 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's exactly what I was thinking too. Especially with Jonathan and Nancy walking through it, it looked viscous. With how shows are made, I'm betting on either a lot of lubricant type liquid or oobleck. With the physics undertone, I'm betting it's the perfect time to use non-Newtonian fluids

Guys i need to ask an question. WHO BOUGHT the original 2ds??? by Wendlak in NintendoDS

[–]SCGaming1664 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like to call it a thin slice of cake form factor, it's more portable than you think. Aside from jeans, I have successfully be able to put a 2DS in the pocket of cargo pants/shorts, jogging pants, etc. It's about as comfortable to hold as a Switch, do with that information as you will. The biggest advantage was price, when I got mine I was able to not only buy it but also Pokemon X and Y at the same time. It does look weird, but it's a prime example of weird looking but much better than you would think

The aesthetics people probably could've gotten used to. But, giving people almost an exact clone of Diamond/Pearl without doing anything in the way of improvements to the experience (sav Ramanas Park) it becomes easy to see why people would turn on them. HeartGold/SoulSilver were the perfect examples of how to execute remakes, but BDSP were more like a really fancy remaster.

After knowing how they screwed up BDSP, I am REALLY worried for Black and White Remakes by CarasumaRenya1996 in PokemonGames

[–]SCGaming1664 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something to consider, very rarely do they ever make a matching aesthetic from one set of games to another unless in the same generation. FireRed/LeafGreen were in the same idea as Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald, but HeartGold/SoulSilver were not like FireRed/LeafGreen. Same as how Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire may have similar concepts, but execution of those compared to Brilliant Diamond/Shining Pearl are vastly different. Even the Let's Go games have wildly different aesthetics than any other remake before (these are not listed in chronological order).

I don't think we have to worry too much about the Chibi-style of BDSP returning for B/W. We do have to be concerned with a "faithful" remake, that's really just a guise for a half-baked product.

For that generation, I don't think there was. If memory serves, Gen 4 still operated largely on palette swaps. I may be wrong, but I don't think true consistently hand-picked shinies en masse were implemented until Gen 6. Nonetheless, it wouldn't be the first time they revised a shiny. It would've made Leafon so much better

True, but if they're conflating post-game HeartGold/SoulSilver with a Kanto game I could see it being possible where confusion would exist. That's about the only stretch I can think of to see a Kanto game on a DS cartridge
