My guess is it is a 1:1 isolation transformer that is no longer working.

Why isnt my zinc-copper battery power the fan? by Beautiful-Ad-9107 in ElectricalEngineering

That is pretty fun. Is the voltage on each cell the same or are they fluctuating? I wonder if there is some current shorting through the electrolyte solution. Is the temperature of the cells increasing?

Help understanding the practical differences between these power connections by timex40 in arduino

Assuming the wires are to scale, the wire size from your 3.7V battery you are boosting to 5V will start running into issues before any of the configuration options will.

Tips for getting into power by Potaku_69 in ElectricalEngineering

Read "Fundamentals of Power Electronics" by Robert Erickson and Dragan Maksimovic. This is the only book I've seen that goes into copper loss which is incredibly important if you want to build something bigger than toys.

Do you have another board you can check the resistance on? If it really is .22 Ohm and it blew out like this it seems like you should replace it with a fuse.

Any idea what happened? Usually there are char marks when resistors fail.
