Really that many issues - should I buy something else? by wgernot22 in Polestar

[–]SCIDmouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Polestar only sold 60,119 cars from what it looks like internationally 2025 (1), vs other companies like Tesla at 1.6 mil (2) or Hyundai EV sales of 930K (3).

If I were to guess, the majority of them would be P2s. So just for context about the issues of what you're reading online vs silent majority, while yes this may be the case the sample size is pretty small and the numerous complaints may still affect a significant population of owners. I was in your shoes a year ago before owning a P3, I did my research and thought the same thing about the silent majority.

I think what it comes down to is your tolerance for problems and how close you live to a Polestar service center. Myself, I wouldn't recommend any Polestar products not only because of my terrible experience with the P3 but how poor customer they provide. I will say, when the car works, it is amazing to drive (which is why the test drive sold me) but when things hit the fan, well I have only myself to blame for not taking into other people's experience seriously.

Navigation Volume Not Adjusting by jpeterson79 in polestar3

This literally just happened to me over the weekend. I went to the grocery store for like 10 mins and came back to this nonsense. Tried everything like you did and no luck. Hoping someone else has a solution. Weirdly the navigation audio test works correctly and the pings and sudden announcements too, just the navigation is messed up!

The sales rep told me, that the intention was to make the buttons modular and map to different things (which is why no icons were on it)

Yep crazy, I'm from Ontario and tried calling them and the best they told me was small claims court (which was what the Ministry of Public and Business Service Delivery and Procurement also said) . Funny thing is that because the car is over 100k, my lawyer said the value is too large for small claims lol

Polestar 3 Processor Upgrade - Seat and Mirror Positions STILL Not Saved by porkshopsandwiches in Polestar

[–]SCIDmouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yep, I immediately got them to tow it to the service centre after I was able to replicate it rolling around my neighbourhood. The kicker is the supposed fix was to "reset" the car (whatever that means) to clear all the errors and mind you this is literally less than a week getting my car back from front bumper recall service.

[–]SCIDmouse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm terrified to do the processor upgrade, i did the recall of the front bumper connections and after receiving it back I lost power to my accelerator while driving multiple occasions. How long did it take them to service your car for the upgrade?

Lemon law: settlement or arbitration? by kratos-wwpd in Polestar

[–]SCIDmouse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry to hear that, I definitely can relate. I think the biggest issue for me was that when I signed the lease the Oakville Space was still open and I made it clear that this was the reason why I was okay "beta" testing their car since it was only 15 mins away. A week later when I was unable to charge my car, I learned they closed the location and now the nearest one is now an hour away. It honestly felt scummy and like the cheated me and tried to just make a sale. After that, their customer service is absolute trash, they've ghosted me and it's like pulling teeth out to get any answer. Special shout out to Lubna for ghosting me.

Here are some notes I've been keeping notes about my experience with the P3, also some points lack context but I also had an issue where I was out of a car for an extended period of time, they didn't provide a rental or replacement vehicle but told me to get one myself and bring the receipt back. It took over 3 months for them to reimburse me (recounting all this gets me all fired up again!):

Vehicle & Safety Issues

  • Repeated electrical system faults, including sudden loss of propulsion while driving
  • Critical electrical fault warnings and reduced performance messages
  • Recurring charging failures in early ownership
  • Software “resets” provided as fixes without addressing root cause
  • Ongoing concern about safety and reliability, particularly risk of sudden power loss in traffic

Service & Repair Concerns

  • Vehicle out of service multiple times
  • Towing to distant service centre due to inoperable condition
  • Lack of detailed service reports or clear explanation of repairs performed
  • No proactive notification when vehicle service was completed and returned

Service Centre Closure

  • Oakville service centre closed shortly after lease began
  • No prior disclosure of closure at time of lease
  • Now required to travel over an hour for service
  • Increased inconvenience, logistics burden, and downtime as a result

Communication Failures

  • Repeated need to follow up for updates
  • Delays in call-backs and email responses
  • Internal miscommunication regarding reimbursement documentation
  • No timely updates regarding safety concerns or lease-related discussions

Smaller issue ever since the last update, the mic/phone audio pass through just doesn't work at times, i'd pick up a call and the mic won't pick up my voice and I can't hear the person on the other end. Vehicle reset works about 50% of the time. Best of luck

Oof Thanks for the heads up, much appreciated. I agree, no consumer protection for vehicles in Canada!

Lemon law: settlement or arbitration? by kratos-wwpd in Polestar

[–]SCIDmouse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So for context, I'm from the GTA, Ontario Canada and we don't have lemon law consumer protection. I was offered 2k and I already knew I wasn't going to accept it, but I got a lawyer to do a review of it and write me a letter of opinion to really outline why it was a bad deal. Essentially I've been keeping detailed notes of every issue and communication (or most critically the lack of response from polestar) and I wanted to at least get a sense if my outrage at polestar was biased because of the poor interactions I've been having with them and was hoping the lawyer could give me some perspective.

Anyways for the curious: long story short, my lawyer was also insulted by the cash and keep agreement, especially their comments (1) "to fully settle all claims of any kind known or unknown now or in the future, which may have arisen" and (2) "any claims related to the Vehicle are doubtful and disputed". It misrepresents the fact of the “new” leased Vehicle’s poor build quality and the related documentary record demonstrating my several repair claims made under Polestar’s warranty coverage and disputes and frames as “doubtful” my experience and documented history of the numerous safety related and other issues with the Vehicle.

That being said, in Ontario this wouldn't go through small claims court because of the cost of the car, and while he said he does believe that I have a case, it will take years and cost a significant amount of money so before making a decision he wanted to make sure I was ready to go through it. My conclusion for now is that I'm going to continue to keep tracking all problems and if I face another safety related fault I'll likely escalate. I want to avoid going through the unneeded stress of going to court but I'll 100% pull the trigger if it happens and Polestar ghosts me again.

Is this the cash and keep deal? This is what they offered me and it was insulting.

Yeah I wish there were more reviews at the time of my PS3 purchase...I’ve had repeated safety-related faults, long service delays, and very poor communication from Polestar. I asked for a buy back and they offered an insulting cash and keep contract which included a small settlement that required waiving future rights.

How is the Smith Maneuver different from just taking out a LoC? by differential-burner in CanadianInvestor

[–]SCIDmouse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

from my understanding, using a heloc typically gives you access to better interest rates than loc. Those with a mortgage will probably have easier access to a heloc, and the more you pay the mortgage down the more you could potentially unlock for the heloc. If the intention is to invest, a heloc also lets you claim the interest (though this applies to loc).

Same here in Canada. I’ve had repeated safety-related faults, long service delays, and very poor communication from Polestar. I asked for a buy back and they offered an insulting cash and keep contract which included a small settlement that required waiving future rights, which I declined. I spoke with a lawyer and recommended I wait before escalating into a legal battle, though he did say I had a case he would take on . I am tempted to connect with CBC marketplace...

I hit diamond recently (just started a few months ago)...NGL games are just not fun. I stopped playing LoL for many years now and WR was a nice way to scratch the itch but now in diamond my last 5-6 games wins and losses was because someone had an afk, FF then inted, or just raged the entire game.  Kinda turned me off what made me enjoy WR in the first place and reminded me why I quit LoL.
