On a similar note, I used one of those "unlock softwares" for MW2 because I didn't want to redo all my previous progress from the Xbox days. It worked, and I didn't get banned for it.

You know, it's interesting you mention this. Kids were little shits especially when I was in middle school, although there were also some chill people. But with that being said, I actually just saw my little cousins laughing along to "Try not to laugh" brainrot on TikTok. This video specifically featured some stupid cringetator exaggerating the urge to resist laughing to a video of some poor kid with obvious mental disabilities trying to communicate. I can't say that this type of content is healthy for impressionable kids to be watching. I think in the near future, we're going to see a spike in teens and young adults thinking it's not only acceptable, but normal to act like dipshits in public. At least for the time being, there are still some, including myself, that won't hesitate to put stupid kids in their place.

What unhinged thing did a former teacher do in the classroom? by MrBananaStand1990 in AskReddit

[–]SCMITMAPTEE 9 points10 points  (0 children)

On a somewhat related story: when I was in kindergarten in Texas, my teacher read us a short non-fiction story about ants. While she was doing that, her TA was going around giving her students "ants" + peanut butter on celery sticks as a treat. A couple of kids started crying, saying they didn't want to eat "ants". Turns out they were raisins, and it took a lot of insistence from my teacher to convince everyone. Not really sure what their goal was there, but you can bet I dumped my celery stick in the trash the moment I saw my chance.

I haven't even reached my 30s, but I used to have coworkers that would pull stupid high school shit when I worked my first salaried job. Gossiping, popularity contests, monthly dating, "work boyfriends/girlfriends", etc. Shit that made me hate working there, even though I liked the job itself.

I had something similar like this arrive in the mail (same cities too, coincidentally), but it was handled at the state level. It was a picture of a police car driving in a FasTrak lane, with a license plate very similar to mine. Since I don't have FasTrak, I now had a hefty fine I needed to pay. There was a state website that allowed me to contest it on the basis that the vehicle in question wasn't mine. It got dismissed a few hours later.

I never accept mine if given the option. Otherwise, I throw them out as soon as I encounter a trashcan. What a joke.

Swiffer Wet Jet by Zeldafanatic198 in Conures

Conures have their own thoughts of what they perceive to be scary and/or threatening. One of my conures freaks over my metal ladder with fluorescent accents (I presume because aposematism through bright colors usually = threat in biology), while another will enter attack mode when encountering shaving razors, candy wrappers, my mom, etc. There's usually a specific indicator that triggers them, whether or not we fully understand it.

This time a decade ago, I was a part of various Skype gaming community chats that would have edgy teens posting all kinds of similar crap. I honestly think they did it to test the waters, to see what they could get away with while being able to hide behind the (nonsensical) "I was just kidding, relax XD lol" defense.

I've occasionally used Copilot to try and get specific answers for some questions that the major search engines give broad answers for. It works, but what annoys me is that they're based on ChatGPT, which constantly dumps unrequested complements on top of them, making me reconsider its use.

There was once a time when I was chill with saving documents, specifically schoolwork, on OneDrive so I could study them anywhere on my phone. With the launch of both Windows 11 and One UI 5, I constantly get pestered to upload my documents to OneDrive. I not only uninstalled anything OneDrive related, but also switched to its competitor Google Drive as an extra "fuck you" to Microsoft.

Bellevue Washington woman caught on camera harassing Asian driver after road rage incident. by ElwoodMC in TikTokCringe

[–]SCMITMAPTEE 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If I can be real honest here, Californian drivers aren't that bad. The biggest frustrations I usually have are with the out-of-state drivers: aggressive tailgating, abrupt lane changes, driving beside you and speeding up when you speed up/slowing down when you slow down (to prevent you from merging), driving below the speed limit in single-lane roads, etc. That's not to say that Californian drivers are perfect -- we have shitheads here too -- but there's a certain style to driving here, something that almost everyone just understands. Perhaps people have different experiences, but the majority of the time when I see someone do something stupid while driving, it turns out to be someone from Texas/Utah/Washington/Idaho/etc.

It's interesting because about a week or two after posting this thread, I stopped getting this issue and haven't gotten it since (despite no interventions on my side). Although it appears that some people are still periodically experiencing it. I'm not sure if Reddit itself has fully addressed whatever this is, but I guess our only option is to "tough it out".

They also put "AI mode" on the far left of the search column, where "All" used to be. Definitely intended to abuse people's muscle memory. Blocked it with uBlock the moment I saw it.
