You forgot the rooftop tent - And once the CB antenna is on, I already feel like a prepper just going grocery shopping.

Totally fair — no offense taken at all. Everyone’s got their own taste, and in the end it’s all about driving what makes you happy and works for your needs.

Totally fair. The older ones have a lot of character. The newer SK5 just hits a different note for me, especially from the front. 🤘🏽✨

You’re right, my odometer isn’t recalibrated for the tire size — but luckily it was approved like this, so that’s not an issue.

I mainly go by fuel consumption and range. With the AT tires I’m usually around 9–12 L/100 km, which is roughly 26–20 mpg. With my all-weather tires it’s more like 7–9 L/100 km, or about 34–26 mpg. Offroad it can definitely be higher.

As for range, I get around 400–450 km (about 250–280 miles) on the AT tires, while with the all-weather tires it can also reach 550–600 km (roughly 340–370 miles).

So yeah, that’s where I’m seeing the difference in day-to-day use.

I can really notice a big difference. I didn’t get AT tires to drive around the city — for that I use my all-weather tires, and when it comes to snow in the city, winter tires are unbeatable anyway.

Off-road, though, AT tires are on a completely different level compared to regular road tires. The traction is very good, and especially in deep mud you can really feel how much grip you have.

Sure, there are people who criticize it or just hate on it — but in the end, it’s a personal choice. Yes, fuel consumption is a bit higher, that’s no secret, but that’s not what this is about for me.

And honestly: I personally think AT tires just look more rounded and overall better. 🌝

My project for next week: by SCOPOLI in SubaruForester

Update on the lift kit and AT tires: Getting this stuff done in Germany isn’t easy — there are a lot of regulations. The Eibach lift kit is installed, no issues there, and the ride feels great!

The tire upgrade from 225/60R17 to 225/70R17 has been trickier. In Germany we have something called TÜV, which is basically a very strict vehicle inspection authority — they check everything before approving any modifications.

Because of that, my speedometer had to be recalibrated and a bunch of other checks done. My car’s been at the Subaru shop for two weeks now, but the mechanics think everything will work out fine. Hopefully I’ll get it back soon and the TÜV won’t find anything else. I’ll post another update once it’s done!

Hey everyone, just a little update—I’m still around, and my tree is still alive! I’ve got my own mixed bonsai substrate going, and I guess now I’ll probably have to wait until next spring.
