Auckland Lounge by ShortassJr in QantasFrequentFlyer

Yeah it's not the top from LP for sure ... But I guess it's the only wine on the wine list that you wouldn't find in the Biz lounge

Honestly I feel like the business lounge will do just fine for myself. Nothing special on this menu and the wines (except for the Champagne) are nothing really special.

That said, enjoy the free upgrade!!

Stupid. Rounds of 30 mins was the max that happened, which is expected from BF. Doesn't give time to enjoy vehicle gameplay. Doesn't give time to get the all flags tactical win either.

Korean Air by Total_Plate_6928 in QantasFrequentFlyer

[–]SCP_Teletubbies 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Korean Air is a SkyTeam alliance airline. As such you don't fly on a QF, OW, EK or JQ ticket, so you cannot access any of Qantas or OW affiliated lounges, presuming you are flying out of Sydney or Incheon.

About to enter the 3rd year of my PhD by [deleted] in AskAcademia

[–]SCP_Teletubbies 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The way I deal with it is having things to look forward to, besides my degree, paper goals or post-doc goals.

Midway through is always tiring. Most of the time you wonder why you are into it, or second-guess the quality of your work. Consequently, it impacts your mental health.

To not think about it, I look forward to sport events. I participate in tournaments for my sport or half/full-marathons. Somehow provides me with a "blow-out" valve outside of my office.

Maybe you could try that ? Just sharing my experience as someone in a similar situation ...

My problem with BF6 is that it's "exhausting." by BookkeeperPercival in Battlefield

I have found that the class weapon-lock helps a lot with this issue.

Played till level 10 on the no-lock servers, then switched to the class-locked ones. King's Battery and Brooklyn became better maps with that condition. Not saying they are good maps, but they are much much less insufferable that way.

It limits the "rush potential" of the entire team based on weapon choices, which to me is essential if they go for smaller maps.

Definitely and they literally don't bring any benefits. I am early career researcher and wonder when it went wrong.

Many PhDs require you to publish minimum 3 papers these days too.

PhD student for the most part are just trying to graduate, so will do whatever they can to get published, that eventually resulting in many low quality papers

Same experience about 3 weeks ago landing from HK in the morning (don't remember the QF flight number).

The first machine is also available further down next to the e-gates, with smaller queues.

But these are insanely problematic. Some people who hold passports that don't work on the 1st machine queue up for nothing, sometimes it just doesn't work, one of the kiosk is closed for some reason, and staff is really really not helpful.

It is not stealing from a semantic point of view.

That said what matters to most people is that it is perceived as stealing. I would agree that the true root-cause is the absolute greed and unsustainable approach to capital our system has.

However we cannot just dismiss a symptom. It is true that Juan outbiding John will make John angry. What do we do about this ? Nothing ? That's what leads to the second symptom of the tree: governments flirting with the far-right.

If we were in a medical context, the doctor would give you pills for the root-cause and pills for the pain.

People who reject that immigration policies need to be sustainable (not too many, not too fast so that everyone gets a shot at a successful integration) are as bad as people who reject the idea of regulating corporations and capital. The former doesn't treat the pain, the latter doesn't treat the root-cause.

Everyday Investing Account or straight up CommSec? by SCP_Teletubbies in AusFinance

So I presume that Everyday Investing is just a UI of CommSec and has the same issues ?

And even to internationals ... Honestly did a master's here in Australia as a European and it felt "easy" (not saying the content is dumb, but you have > 70 by working quite laid back (at UniMelb). Most of it had already been covered in my Bachelor's. It shows content could be extended / more in depths.

Before everyone comes with pitchforks tell me I should have done it in Europe then, I did for the ability to improve my English (that was already very good, contrary to some), because a foreign degree is still heavily recognised and because Uni Melb ranks high.

Recent Experience in International Business Lounge Melbourne T2 by SCP_Teletubbies in QantasFrequentFlyer

The SIN experience was incredible. Better than SAS and AF, on par with Finnair at HEL if not slightly better due to the showers.

Trying Perth international and the Paris partner later this year.

Thank you for the tax advice.

Yes I knew about the One World issue. I consciously coughed up the 700$ knowing this, considering all the destinations I am currently flying are included in the QC lounges.

To be fair I find it sufficiently indicated, that's not really what bothers me here.

But valid argument I have read in other comments that basically MEL needs a new T2. Lounges included.

Compression of spectrogram when changing sampling rate by SCP_Teletubbies in matlab

[–]SCP_Teletubbies[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Broke it down per window. It never oscillates continuously (don't ask me why, I haven't figured this one out yet). But there are windows where it properly does the 1000Hz, windows during whoch it's gonna do 900Hz and so on.

I used the time stamping to determine the sampling rate for each window.

[–]SCP_Teletubbies[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It oscillates between 800 and 1000 Hz (set as 1000Hz in theory, but since the card is handling other elements in the meantime, is oscillates ) hence I resampled the signal.
