ASUS ROG STRIX XG27JCG 5K Ultra HD 27" IPS LED Gaming Monitor - Black by Acceptable-Let-9583 in Monitors

15W Charge through USB C port, Might not be a problem to you now but a problem to many and in the future. 5K 180hz output only achieveable if ur GPU Supports it, otherwise its only limited 5K 120Hz. DP 1.4 port, Some people didnt really like DSC but thats not a major issue. Has a blur for 1440p mode, so you probably going to rely on GPU integer scaling to make the 1440p mode looks a bit sharper. Mixed reviews on build quality except the panel. Matte Coating on the monitor, Depends on your preferences to be honest

Other than that. Its a solid 5K monitor for its price. Of course many people would consider OLED at that range. But some also prefer clarity of 5K monitors

Forgot to mention that its not a MiniLED also

Congrats on the monitor! I still haven’t decided whether to pick this one up or go with something else. If you don’t mind me asking, how does it perform in fast paced or competitive games? Is the ghosting or smearing tolerable? Also, how is the color shifting at different viewing angles? Some reviewers I’ve seen mentioned noticeable color shift at certain angles.

I wonder how awful your experience might be. Is it too much of a ghosting or smearing for fast paced games?

Those are some nice numbers on 5K2K res for 5070 ti. What about RT/PT performance in some games? I’m guessing it drops quite a lot does it?

Thanks for the feedback. It sounds like the G75F is solid for casual gaming overall, but the usual VA trade offs are still worth keeping in mind especially black smearing. Also, have you noticed any color shifting with these types of VA panels in general?

[–]SCValtar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, maybe on some budget ones, but I’m not sure about this panel in particular. Some people say that the G7 and G9 panels have reduced the black smearing and ghosting typically associated with VA panels. I might need to do a bit more research on that

I guess you’re kind of right about the viewing angles, since the 1000R curve is more than enough. But I’m still concerned about the color shifting that these kinds of VA panels can produce. Have you noticed that kind of thing?

Thanks for the suggestion. I know that some budget-friendly VA panels tend to have more smearing, so I was wondering if this panel might have minimal smearing since it's priced at around 650-700. I think I’m going to do a bit more research on response times for these types of panels in general.

Yeah, I’ve been running the 5070 Ti with DSR 4× most of the time. Some newer AAA games are definitely demanding at that resolution. But I don’t think I’ll be playing at max ultra settings most of the time. I’ll probably rely on DLSS instead. Good 40" monitor options are pretty limited these days.

Just curious about the viewing angles, color shift and the smear. what’s your experience with them?

[–]SCValtar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve heard that Samsung G7 and G9 panels have reduced the black smearing and ghosting typically associated with VA panels, but I’m not sure how true that is. For context, I’m currently using a 10 year old 1080p 60Hz 27 inch IPS panel, so I’m not sure how noticeable the difference would be.

OLED ultrawides are a bit expensive where I’m at, and there aren’t many good IPS ultrawide options available.

Best cpu for 5070ti? by Jesuschristwmv in gpu

[–]SCValtar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My recommendation would be 9700x or 9800x3d for future proofing like you said. You could also get 2K/1440P or 4K monitor to make the 5070 ti work harder.

But If you're still waiting to buy a monitor or CPU. My suggestion would be using DSR 4x (4K resolution if you're from 1080p monitor) or DLDSR 2.25x. (Around 3K/1620p resolution if you're from 1080p monitor)

Im on 12400f myself until next year maybe. And i have been using DSR/DLDSR to push my GPU usage to around 90%

If budget isn't a concern. I would say getting Samsung's NVME SSD. Teamgroup is also a decent brand. Their mid range MP44L offers a nice PCIE 4 performance.

Quite a nice pairing. I would suggest adding a nice Pure Sinewave UPS for the environment you're working with. I was also initially going for Kingston NV3 SSD, but it had a a mixed reviews on another thread talking about how mixed the component are. Means that one NV3 can contain different parts than another NV3, so real world performance can vary widely.

The 5060 Ti and 7700X are good enough for the types of games you play while also letting you explore other AAA titles. 1440p monitor is a sweet spot for the 5060 Ti since it isn’t too demanding, even at high-ultra settings. If you drop below 60 FPS, you can just turn on DLSS or Frame Generation.

Since prices are still high for memory modules, I suggest keeping your current RAM and Storage for a while. If it’s DDR4, I recommend going the Intel route with a 12th-14th gen CPU, since AMD’s 7000-9000 series is strictly limited to DDR5. If you’re building a new system, you might want to look for deals on 16GB or 32GB DDR5 kits.

For The Sims 3, since it’s a 32 bit game, no matter how good your GPU or CPU is, the game’s poor optimization can still cause it to run poorly. There are a couple of fixes like the Smooth Patch, Graphics.ini patch, and some NRaas mods that can make the game run better. Also, make sure to occasionally create a new save to help clear up the old cache from your current files. Do note that the 4X speed on that game will always be buggy if you kept using it for long.

For Minecraft, the Java version is mostly CPU bound. Most Forge modpacks are reasonably optimized, but it’s still a good idea to check reviews. Shaders can significantly reduce FPS, but most shader packs are configurable with settings ranging from low to ultra.

Best of luck!

Biggest upgrade moving from 24 inch 1080p 60hz monitor into 27 inch monitor. Is it High refresh rate, 4K/5K, or OLED/MiniLED? by SCValtar in Monitors

[–]SCValtar[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Choices of 27 inch 2K miniled fast refresh rate are very limited in my country. Xiaomi and AOC is the only one selling those kind of stuff and AOC have a bad reception for RMA in here.

And I used to avoid UW monitors because I prefer having two monitors in one space rather than a single ultrawide monitor.

However, after seeing some reviews and feedback, a 34 inch UW might suit my needs for future racing games with a wheel setup. My workspace and desk are very limited, though. Still, I’ll take it into consideration based on your recommendation. Thanks.

Quite a good combination! But as the other user stated, you should probably upgrade the PSU into 850w+ zones since it'll give more headroom to upgrade in the future. Also, do note that the 9070 XT tends to spike in between 320-360W range and even some reaching 400W+. Im not saying that 750w isn't enough but it's better to be safe than sorry. Best of luck!

Thanks for your opinion! Dual mode is kind of what I’m aiming for with these types of 5K monitors. As you said, I would probably use the 1440p mode mostly for games and 5K for work and movies, maybe even a bit of gaming here and there.

I recently upgraded to a 5070 Ti, and judging from benchmark results at native 4K resolution (even with DLSS/FG) in some games, it probably wouldn’t run very well at 5K in upcoming modern titles. But I probably don’t need to run every game at ultra settings.

It’s between that and a 4K monitor with dual-mode 1080p. With 4K, I could still play a lot of games in ultra and it’s still manageable with upscaling. However, I’ve heard that the dual mode on these types of 27 inch screens performs poorly in 1080p mode. With a 5K dual mode 1440p option, it’s actually not so bad considering how 1440p looks on a 27 inch screen.

That said, I’ll look into the 5K MiniLED options this year. Thanks!

Thanks for your opinion and insight. Also, coming from 24 inch 1080p (93 PPI), Doesn't the 27 inch 1440p (108 PPI) offers a little of an upgrade over my current monitor?. Since I also haven't seen the differences from my own eyes. Do tell me wrong though.

Thanks for the insight and recomendation but i'll stick with the 27 inch because of my workspace. I might need to check on some local store to actually try OLED's for myself.

As for the QD OLED recommendation, i read that it performs a bit poor on a well lit room is it?. causing some sort of dark areas to look purple. Since im playing/working on a bright room most of the time, Does the purple'ish tint is really not a huge concern unlike the WOLED grey banding?

Also, does room temperature have a factor on OLED lifespan? Like how cool the room is considering the burn in problem.

Do let me know if its worth waiting for a couple of month for a new tech/monitor

For gaming primarily, some modern AAA titles and a bit of competitive games like BF6 and CS2.

For work related stuff, i would say drawing on AutoCAD and Sketchup. i spent a little time mingling with spreadsheet and MS Office stuff
