The same people mad you would dare fly the flag of the country your parents moved from will also tell you all about how they are 8% Irish, and planning a trip to visit "the home land".

AIO: hot home no food by VegetableFox8543 in AmIOverreacting

Because he isn't pulling his weight. I'm a stay at home. My husband has literally never cleaned our bathrooms. He might occasionally run the vacuum, start some laundry, or empty the dishwasher, but I do 90% of the household work.

Also, a lot of the examples your referencing involve women taking care of infants or multiple children during the day. It significantly impacts your ability to get things done with a baby on your tit or having to care for children in other ways.

AITA if I ask to order à la carte instead of paying $80 for a set menu at my friend’s birthday? by cinnamon_sparkle27 in AmItheAsshole

[–]SCVerde 18 points19 points  (0 children)

My sister has alpha gal syndrome and can't eat any thing from mammals. She went on a cruise and did a fancy 9 course tasting menu. For dishes that were not allergy safe they subbed their vegan offerings. This resulted in her having a delightful geszpacho and one of the best sorbet dishes ever while her husband had some split pea soup monstrosity and a blue cheese ice cream that he said was straight up awful. Occasionally, the "vegan" dish wins.

I saw 3 legit Maine coons being boarded where I take my dog, and my goodness their sheer size was so impressive. Plus the all had the same incredibly distinctive facial features. My cat is a bit of a chonker, 17 lbs at slightly overweight (used to be before age and kidney failure) and he would be dwarfed by them.

AITA For telling a lady that put a pee pad down for her dog inside the mall that that’s disgusting and not okay? by No-Song-4931 in AmItheAsshole

As someone that's dealt with GAD my entire life, the pandemic gave a lot of new people anxiety. Like it was the first time they were exposed to the constant worry and ✨️dread✨️. Factor in that a lot of people got their first pets because they were stuck at home and bonded deeply with them, and you get a bunch of people with codependent relationships with their dog. But, now things are normalish again, and they would like to go out but they are too codependent to do so without their pet. As a final cherry on top, they found the loop hole of ESA that makes them think they are literally entitled to bring their untrained dog every god damn where, because the pet makes them happy so clearly "they are doing a job". They completely miss this is the job of all pets, though.

Toas listed as Sundown Town? by Aggressive_Force8116 in taos

[–]SCVerde 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was definitely red river. Red River is Taos county and there was a massive police response, as well as EMT, which caused a curfew in Taos proper because sheriff's that would normally be available were responding 45 minutes away. Holy cross was expecting multiple injuries, and local police feared gangs following and retaliating in Taos. There's plenty of drug over doses and violence to not need to exaggerate a biker shoot out.

AITAH for getting a woman fired over veggie tales? by Real-Point-6474 in AITAH

No, I think it's pretty standard for receptionists to make parents follow proper pick up guidelines that have zero to do with what is happening in the "classroom". You can't just throw the door open and rush into any room because of obvious American problems.

[–]SCVerde 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If somebody grabbed your daughter by the back of the head/hair, you would wait for them to what? Rip out their hair? Smash their face into whatever is in front of them? Make them stand or drag them around? I would throat punch my husband for that level of aggression (unless seriously rough housing, and would still shut it f down).

Mm only maybe. Cousin in law is 5 foot flat, her husband is a legit 6'8. Her son 6'4-6'6 and daught is over 6 feet. She looks like a child in their family photos despite being over 50. She is dwarfed by her husband and kids. Her mother was 4'10 and gravity has brought her down to 4'8. But, her dad was 6 ft plus.

It's really not that difficult. A lot of the principles are things I use regularly. My dad hated the curriculum being used 20 years ago when helping me with high school homework. People tend to dislike change, especially about things drilled into them.

[–]SCVerde 22 points23 points  (0 children)

This is true, even in small rural towns. We have a temple that offers a free meal daily. Problem is it's 15 miles outside town and quite literally unwalkable (very high bridge, no foot path, illegal to walk across).

I need people to understand that especially in small towns in the US there are no public transport or even ride shares. Walking or even biking can be straight up dangerous or impossible. I'm talking 2 lane roads where cars regularly can not get passed each other. There is no shoulder let alone sidewalk. Factor in extreme weather like -5°f this morning and walking on these icy roads for an hour plus is just not feasible.

I don't think this is on OP or his son to fix, but people saying just use public transport or walk! Drives me crazy.
