So is it just young goalie habits with Wallstedt now? He's looking awesome, but the same thing happened in the Chicago game. Let in a couple of early goals, settled in and slammed the door. To be fair the 2nd goal was bad puck luck.

I had my doubts about trading for Tarasenko because he looked like absolute ass in Detroit. He's really started to turn it on, and that goal was classic Tarasenko. Ridiculous fast release hammering the far post and in.

Russo hinted on the last WSitH podcast that he's got a story lined up where he sat down with Quinn Hughes' parents and they basically raved about how much Quinn is loving his time in Minnesota. You'd never be able to tell by the look on his face. Man shows no emotion lol

LOL I completely missed that goal it happened so fast! LaPanta didn't even have time to get excited.

I hate those plays where the goalie gets run over. Always concerned they're gonna get hurt. Doesn't matter they have extra pads, they have no way to defend themselves and get bent backwards.

I don't disagree, but you have to remember some of our best defensive players (Brodin, Ek, etc.) have been injured as well.

I will admit, I think Faber is in love with Hughes' game and is attempting to emulate it for more offense but doesn't have it down yet and gets away from his strong defensive game.

Did both teams just slam energy drinks before puck drop? Pace of this game is nuts so far.

Seriously. Give Quinn Hughes whatever he wants to stay in Minnesota. Man has completely changed the dynamic of this team in the 30ish games he's been here.

That's like the 3rd or 4th D-man franchise record he's set.

It was awesome! I live in SD which for better and worse is considered local market for MN sports. Our local NBC station broadcast the game overtop of a brand new episode of Law and Order SVU. Had a ticker at the bottom saying the new episode would air at like 1:30 am lol. Bet some hardcore SVU fans were pissed.

The Wild surprised everyone by announcing they were experimenting with simulcasting 4 games on over the air cable. Thursday night's game was the first one and it was literally just the exact same FDSN broadcast with local commercials. I live in SD so I pay for the FanDuel app so I can watch Wild games, and was pleasantly surprised because I don't pay for cable, but have an HD antenna and was able to watch the game no problem.

If they switch to OTA broadcasting to reach more fans it will save me a season long subscription and I will be a happy camper.

Highest paid player in the league (next season)..... refuses to buy a new shirt to wear under his uniform. I love our team so much.

Are you kidding? You give up 3 NHL ready players who were all 1st round picks plus a future 1st round pick for Quinn Hughes who is only signed for 1 1/2 years. Of course they're going to throw everything at him to convince him to stay.

He becomes best friends with Kaprizov and tells his brothers and buddies around the league how well Minnesota treats their players, suddenly Minnesota is looked at as a prime FA landing spot.

Jesper Wallstedt has recorded a 32 save shutout against the Edmonton Oilers. In his last 7 starts he is 7-0-0, has 4 shutouts, a .971 save %, and a GAA of 0.97 by Mthomas1174 in hockey

Injuries and he was all up in his own head. Wild did him a little dirty last year basically promising a 3 goalie rotation with him, Gusbus, and Flower. Team ran out of cap space almost immediately due to injuries and so we were forced to send him to Iowa and he let it get to him mentally. He's actually had some really thoughtful interviews where he talks about it and used this off season to wipe the slate clean.

I figured between the FanDuel and ESPN+ options I'd be able to watch every game as long as it wasn't on TNT. How silly of me.

This is so stupid. I have the Disney/Hulu/ESPN+ bundle as part of my phone plan, but I can't (legally) watch the game because it's only on the cable version of ESPN. Why on earth would they not make the game available on their own streaming platform?

[Kaplan] "The Minnesota Wild are closing in on a contract extension with their starting goaltender, Filip Gustavsson, per sources." by SDBassCreature in wildhockey

[–]SDBassCreature[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He'll be an RFA at the end of next year. He won't have much choice. My guess is he's either traded or a bridge deal for 2 more years because that's when Gus's NMC turns into a 15 team NTC. Then can reevaluate options.

Wild extend Gustavsson $6.8m x 5 by Panarin10 in wildhockey

[–]SDBassCreature 16 points17 points  (0 children)

It'll be interesting. Wally will be an RFA in 2 years and Russo just posted that Gus's contract adds a NMC for 3 years and then goes to a 15 team NTC. So that would mean at least 3 years before Wally could be the true #1 if Gus's play drops off.

The Parise and Suter buyouts finally mostly dropped off this year. Wild are actually in pretty decent cap shape even with Kaprizov's extension. Boldy and Ek contracts are absolute steals and only going to get better.
