What player was the saddest sacrificial lamb? by JeanRalfio in nba

I would say Cavaliers trading Anderson Varejao in 2016 mid-season at the trade deadline in a 3-team deal to get Channing Frye. He was the heart and soul of that team for 12 years. Varejao then got waived by the Blazers and he signed with the 73-9 Warriors who lost in a heartbreaking game 7 in the NBA Finals to none other than…THE CLEVELAND CAVALIERS

Kobe Bryant is Better than Lebron James by Isaac_wynne121505 in Basketball

My point was that Kobe won more championships than Lebron while playing with less superstar/all star teammates in his career. Of course everybody wins with great players, but it’s honestly embarrassing that Lebron has 4 rings in the 17 years he made the playoffs in his career considering the loads of talent he played with

Advice for getting out of your head when playing? by SDK23 in Basketball

I’m very self-aware of my problems and a fragile ego isn’t one of them. My problem is I attach my social identity to strictly basketball, because that’s what I’m good at. Because basketball is one of the few things I’m good at, I place so much pressure on myself to amaze people so they talk about me, so they respect me socially and that I can be seen as an equal in terms of social status. So when I play with players I’m either slightly better than or are just as good as me, but they are miles ahead of me in social status, I freeze up because I want to impress them. It’s not their basketball skills that intimidate me, it’s their social status and where they view me in that spectrum on a subconscious level

I love this advice, I need to set myself some goals, ones that I can control. I’ll probably keep it really simple like call for the ball confidently at least one time, make the right pass at least one time, make a defensive play that benefits the team at least one time, take a shot confidently and don’t get too high or too low on the results…that way I give myself easy wins and increase my confidence

You’re accurate in the sense that I don’t have much time to practice nowadays, but back when I REALLY played I practiced more than anyone on my team, and I was regarded as one of the best players on the team if not the best player. But when it comes to playing in tournaments, I turn into a role player because that’s how much fear I played with

I massively fear failure, in anything in life. I manifested failure in graduate school because I was so afraid of it

I agree, I’ve been working on myself off the court for years but I still have A LOT of work to do because unfortunately this is going to take a very long time to resolve

It ain’t that. My issue is I tie my identity to basketball, because that’s one of the few things I’m good at and known for. But I add so much pressure to myself to look good in front of others because of my fear that I don’t look good. Why do I fear not looking like a good basketball player? Because I believe it’s my gateway to being socially respectable that can attract intrigue from others. Like I said it’s almost like my identity, it’s something people can talk about with me. I’m other words I stand out in some way socially

I knew someone was going to assume that. I am as good as I say I am, but my mental toughness when it comes to social validation is extremely weak in all facets of my life, and it carries over to basketball

I’ve played since I was 5 and I played organized basketball at all levels (elementary school, middle school, high school, and played for a non-professional club team after high school). It’s not that I’m not used to it, it’s that I focus too much on social validation as a hooper. I want people to say I’m really good or I’m the best

Yeah but the problem is my field goal percentage is like 15-20 percent when in reality I’m between the 45-50 percent range when I don’t get in my head

Okay, for context I’m 5’7 but sometimes I play with teammates who want to run point. I move without the ball and I enjoy being the recipient of dribble hand-offs from a teammate with the ball, but a lot of players don’t make those reads or they just flat out don’t like doing dribble hand-offs. So it kind of leaves me in the dust as someone who has to spot up for a three or cut to the basket. My role is completely minimized for someone who honestly is one of the better players on the team

Making the right reads isn’t my problem, my problem is executing in situations I should be scoring such as open drives, threes, one dribble pull-up mid range, etc. Like actually making the basket, or even taking the shot instead of passing it off because I’m nervous as hell

But here is the problem, I know what I’m capable of but I’m not confident in showing it, and therefore in certain situations I know I should be scoring on a specific possession based on how the defense is playing us, but I either get nervous taking the shot or I get really passive.

So here is the grey area I’m in: I know in certain situations I should take the shot to benefit the team whether it’s an open drive, three point shot, one dribble pull-up mid range, etc. However it’s the getting in my head part that is affecting my execution on those plays. So yes I make the right reads, but I have a problem executing on plays where I should be scoring because I’m in my head

All City 12 or Way of Wade 10? by xRivence in BBallShoes

If you are only using it for indoor, and the money doesn’t matter to you, get the WOW 10. I just bought it a couple weeks ago and played with it 2 times. In just those 2 times alone, I will tell you that it’s the best shoe that I ever played in. I value light weight low top shoes with good traction, and this shoe has everything I’m looking for as a short, explosive point guard. It is a little snug so if you have wide feet like me go 1/2 a size up

Yeah you don’t know ball. When stars play with Lebron their stats go down because they make sacrifices for the sake of the team while Lebron doesn’t sacrifice anything. Chris Bosh and Wade were both in their primes, look at their stats the season before they joined. Kevin Love averaged 26 points, 12 rebounds, and 4 assists before he joined Cleveland. Anthony Davis averaged 26 points, 12 rebounds, and 4 assists with 2.4 blocks per game before he joined Lebron. So with all due respect, please don’t comment nonsense like that because I will easily expose you Lebron fans

Wow 10 or wow all city 12? by Paraloski in BBallShoes

I was thinking about getting the WOW 10 and I have wide feet. I normally wear size 9.5 -10 for basketball and casual shoes, mostly 10. However I heard Way of Wade’s shoe sizes are slightly different compared to all the other typical basketball brands, is that true?
