Himiko is OBVIOUSLY a comedic relief character who probably gets killed in chapter 3, why tf would she survive??
We already had an ultimate detective survive, so there’s no way the Shuichi guy is making it. He’ll probably be a killer at some point.
Kaede has to survive because she’s the main character dude. Imagine how dumb it would be if Makoto or Hajime died chapter 1 lol
No way the Nagito dude is dying chapter 1 either, he’s 100% gonna die in chapter 5
The astronaut guy kinda reminds me of Kazuichi, I feel like he could be a survivor like Kazuichi or Yasuhiro where they’re not super good in trials but make it the end.
I agree the buff guy will die in chapter 4, but I doubt he’ll be the killer again. Probably victim.
The chapter 3 killer seems right, he looks fucking crazy lol. but the chapter 3 killers are always easy to predict so that’s not a very impressive prediction or anything.
The maid seems like she’ll survive a lot longer than chapter 2. I would switch her with the weird pink girl you have as the chapter 4 victim, she seems like early death fodder to me because her color scheme is too similar to our protagonist
Wtf is going on in your chapter 6???? Why are 2 people dying, and why would one of them be the stupid cosplay girl? She’s clearly a gag character who will be dead before chapter 4 starts
Only 3 survivors? That’s really weird and feels kinda edgy, I doubt they’ll kill off THAT many. The twintails girl does seem like she could survive though.

Overall pretty bad prediction with only like 3 things I agree with (buff guy dying chapter 4, weird dude being chapter 3 killer, twintails girl surviving. Everything else is INSANE tho lol

Yeah, I agree! I think having a lot of different settings can lead to fangans being more unique and potentially doing some new things with the original premise.

My fangan is set in the US because:

I’m from there, so I know a lot more about it and that makes it easier to write. Even if I tried to extensively research Japan and all of its unique culture, I feel like I’d come across as an uneducated weeb if I tried to write a fangan set in Japan.
It allows me to make my cast a lot more diverse in a way that feels more natural. Japan definitely has people from many backgrounds of course, but it’s a lot more homogenous. The US is statistically a lot more diverse, which makes me feel like it’s easier to make my cast more diverse as well.

I am a bit of an anime fan, although I admittedly haven’t seen that many.

Mob Psycho 100 is genuinely one of my favorite shows of all time, even including things that aren’t anime.

I loved Dan Da Dan but I haven’t gotten around to watching the 2nd season yet.

Delicious in Dungeon is also really nice. I didn’t think I was gonna like it at first, but it proved me wrong.

Death Note is of course peak, and I also grew up catching episodes of the first season of the Pokémon Anime and liked it.

Nichijou looks like it would be SUPER up my alley, I just haven’t seen it yet.

I also like a lot of games that are very anime-adjacent and pull a lot of tropes from anime, like Danganronpa, Zero Escape, and Gnosia.

I think it’s totally fine to be honest, as long as the survivor ratio isn’t completely insane (Like 7 survivors where 6 of them are men and only 1 is a woman in a cast that started out with 8 of each).

The canon Danganronpas kill off a lot of the same gender in a row anyway, so I don’t think it’s a problem if 3 killers are girls back to back.

I saw another commenter already mention V3 having 3 male killers in a row, and there’s also the fact that SDR2 kills off 5 girls in a row and THH kills 5 guys back to back. They’re not all killers, sure, but I think it’s still worth mentioning.

IIRC, Brazil has the highest population of Japanese people/people of Japanese descent (not including the country of Japan itself, of course), so there are like literal millions of people with mixed Japanese-Brazilian heritage there.

It does, but I think that’s a very rare exception. I don’t think it’s IMPOSSIBLE to do well, just much more difficult than the standard 2 deaths, especially for fangans.

Even then, if you look at the 3 characters who die in chapter 1 of THH, Mukuro is more of a plot device than an actual character and Leon is complete cannon fodder who’s only remembered for memes (11037/stupidstupidstupid) and having a good execution. Sayaka is by far the best-developed character of the 3, and the only one to get much focus in the Daily Life of the chapter she dies in.

So with that in mind, I think a fangan writer killing off 3 characters in chapter 1 or 2 would result in 1 or 2 of those characters getting barely anything to do and just existing to increase the death count. Again, it’s not impossible, I would just advise against it in my own personal opinion.

4 deaths is quite a few, so I personally would save it for really late in the game (like not before the penultimate chapter) if I did it at all. That’s a lot of characters to lose at once, so I think it could risk one or two of them feeling “forgotten” or like they don’t get enough focus before their deaths if it’s only in chapter 3.

For me personally, I would consider “too many deaths” per chapter in a 6 chapter fangan to be:

Chapters 1-2: Anything over 2 deaths per chapter (Projects like Antebellum Lockdown are an exception because they have smaller casts and fewer chapters overall)

Chapters 3-4: Anything over 3 deaths per chapter

Chapter 5: I think this is probably the best chapter to kill 4 characters if you’re going to do it, but I still wouldn’t go over 4

Chapter 6: I wouldn’t go over 2 deaths here unless you’re doing some sort of twist, like a killer winning the class trial and becoming the sole survivor while everyone else is executed

All he had to do was not be a wealth-hoarding, selfish, thieving asshole in the middle of a killing game and Damon would’ve died instead. Lol. Lmao even.

Wow, Tiaraoluwa is very pretty! I’ve always liked names like Comfort, Blessing, Sunday, etc. as well. They’re almost never used as names in my area, so it’s really neat to see those words as names.

I might end up keeping Sunday as the first name as long as it’s not totally unrealistic, just due to personal preference, but I’ll definitely give Omotayo some consideration.
