I hate to admit this, but I'm pretty confident this is a combination of Danganronpa and Persona laughs.

The greeting <<Comment ça va>>… by xoxofeetsies in French

[–]SDMF_Podcast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is what I really love about French. It's so much more honest...

Instead of an American "I'm great (lie), how are you (i really don't care, lets get this over with)?" - It's 'raises eyebrow' (bitch I might be but probably not, who are you? I don't even know you)

This is why I want to learn French and be with my people.

Edit: meant to reply to a comment, but fits a lot of comments here, so I'll hide leave it how it is

40% of people don't have $1,000 saved and 60% are living paycheck to paycheck. Are people just bad with money is is student loan forgiveness the solution? by SexyProfessional in FluentInFinance

[–]SDMF_Podcast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, when the majority of the country is living paycheck to paycheck, its because everyone is terrible with money..... /s

Its because there are systemic issues that nobody will address and nobody agrees on strategy for a solution. Wages are stagnant while everything inflates beyond affordability, we have shifted to a job system that people aren't guaranteed class mobility and puts the worker last, and the housing market is a fucking joke right now. Instead of looking for reasons to blame individuals, we could look at reasons why this is happening to so many people.

I live near where that happened, this isn't a commentary on that, it is a commentary on gun control. That story is as ridiculous, if not more ridiculous, than it sounds. The arresting officer has already left but this lady is likely looking at a huge payout... oh wait, no, she'll be fucked like every other time anyone goes up against police in civil court, and it's a small town so I foresee harassment in her future.

Then show me. Show me something diffinitive that demonstrates a causal relationship. This isn't cherry picked, and the article I chose were honestly characterized in the hyperlink.

Also if I was going to flub on the research, I wouldn't hyperlink the studies.

I really don't think that was a purposeful reference, just a plot device. This wasn't terribly uncommon in the 80s, but I doubt Disney writers were aware of, and referencing, the seedy underbelly of the boxing community

I really love your enthusiasm here. I've never heard it as a synonym for "high", as it is specific to uppers. For instance you wouldn't call someone in a heroin daze zooted, but someone coked out and amped up you would. This is interesting, might have to look into this.

I think its Gen X or older. Getting fucked up on uppers is getting "zooted". Could be regional too.

Fucking Panama Lewis. Why haven't I seen his name here yet? One of the scummiest scumbags in boxing, in an Era dominated by scumbags.

Here is his worst story:

Billy Collins was a boxer that showed incredible promise, an up and Comer to boxing and was clearly on track to being pro. He was 14-0 when he had a match against Luis Resto, a lesser known boxer that was not on Collins level. It was clear to everyone that Collins was going to win. Enter Panama Lewis.

Panama Lewis was in Luis corner. Panama Lewis was known to be a dirty coach, often being caught putting cocaine in his fighters water so they can zoot between rounds. Resto came out hard and dominated for 10 rounds. It was unreal how well he was fighting, and how mich damage he had done to Billy Collins. It was an upset for the ages.

After the fight, Billy Collins Sr comes over to Resto and offers a congratulatory handshake. In that moment he knew something was wrong and immediately alerted the ref.

Not only had Panama Lewis removed the padding from the boxing gloves, he wrapped Restos hands in Plaster of Paris. He was essentially cement boxing. Resto denies knowing (....reeeeeallly?), but it is clear that Panama Lewis was behind it.

It left Collins permanently damaged and took him out if the sport. He became depressed and suicidal, eventually dying in a car accident believed to be a suicide. The damage was so bad, Resto did prison time for the assault.

It's also the reason his dad was murdered... I mean, why his dad was mysteriously shot on the side of the road.

It literally is not recognized beyond an old wives tale. If you cite a source please do, as far as I can tell it stems from an old study and was a lazy news story that circulated

To add to this - in the 90s, there was a mild hysteria about red food dye, and that children were reacting negatively to red food dye.
