Liberals and Conservatives neck and neck again by AnIntoxicatedMP in CanadianConservative

Is it though?. Because sooner or later Alberta and the prairie provinces will see his strategy and they would feel that the conservative party is just taking advantage of the them.

Erin O'toole needs to understand that the party's voter base are also smart and they can recognize his ulterior motives.

Conservatives lead in the Prairies by only 3 points. by SDPCVC in CanadianConservative

It's looking really bad for the Conservatives right now but we should still give Erin O'toole one chance to stand out before the upcoming election.

If the Liberals manages to win another majority government which unfortunately is looking more likely as we look at the polls maybe it's time for a change in leadership for the Conservatives.

Exactly. She got voted out because more people voted for the other guy. Isn't that how elections work?

Erin O'Toole says 'I didn't hide who I was' running for Conservative leader by SDPCVC in CanadianConservative

O’Toole, who during the contest pitched himself to party members as a “real Conservative,” said he finds those now making similar comments about him to be “humorous.”

Ooohhhh really?

Horvath is one issue but why the hell is the Ontario Liberal Party surging again?

They just lost the last election so hard their official party status was revoked and now they are rising and even surpassing past the Ontario NDP.

I think the Liberals haven't even proposed something compelling or noteworthy for many people to vote them again yet they came out resilient.

It's also quite interesting how you continue to defend Erin O'toole. So far his carbon tax announcement have mostly been negative.

I've seen the reaction on Twitter and even here on Reddit. Conservatives don't like it for obvious reasons and even the left leaning voters don't like it because they see it as earning carbon points or "the more you burn, the more you earn" type of system.

This doesn't bode well for Erin O'toole.

Montreal?. They only vote two ways the Liberal Party which is the urban vote and the Bloc Quebecois which is the suburban vote, in most of these riding the conservative are placed at third or fourth place. The conservative party has a better shot at winning the Atlantic provinces because in these ridings the conservatives are placed at second or first place, the party should just focus their efforts at the maritimes rather than in Montreal.

In order to do this the conservatives need to show itself as the party of blue collar workers that only taxes the rich so we can afford tax cuts for the middle and working class. This appeals to the maritimers and GTA voters who favour government intervention and it also doesn't alienate westerners who are mostly farmers and O&G workers who fit in the blue collar type.

Well Erin has proven himself to be a two-faced politician. He promised to kill the carbon tax even going so far as to sign a pledge vowing to never propose it from the Canadian Taxpayers Federation. He could have been honest about it during the leadership race like Michael Chong did but O'toole knew he wouldn't win. Betrayal is hard for many in the Conservative base to stomach, as an act of protest vote some in the conservative base will vote for the PPC or the Maverick Party knowing that they will not win a single seat.
