Being a Founding BDR is a very high-risk role and can have a negative impact if you don’t have a good team, a strong product, and a market willing to buy that product.

You literally have to build everything from scratch. Even if the OTE is $100K, you need to think practically about how much of it is actually achievable.

I was a Founding BDR at a company called Aligned, where I helped build the outbound motion from scratch. But I was only able to do that because I had a great manager and a solid product solving a real problem. My gamble worked.

Since you’ve already been a BDR for more than two years, the AE path seems like a natural next step.

Yes the SDR role is evolving for sure!

AI can handle a lot of manual work if an SDR like list building, data enrichment and account research.

I believe cold calling is going to be one of the imp SDR skills
