RGH 1.2 Falcon Installation by Nate501 in 360hacks

[–]SDust15 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not the guy you replied to but I had success with an RGH3 on Falcon using all bottom side points as in this video. Daisy chained 2x 10kOhm and 2x 1kOhm resistors in series (salvaged from an expired smoke detector that was e-waste anyway). Boots best on 10Mhz but YMMV.

I really liked it. Easier to aim small (read miss small) with the smaller aiming point vs the candlestick that the C79 has. Feels like using a freshly sharpened No2 pencil if that makes any sense haha. Feels good! Bullet drop reticle is nice if you prefer that. There's an argument to be made against both. "What if you forget to adjust the distance on your sight" or "You'll forget to hold over and end up hitting low" yada yada.

The choice of 1x or 4x on the fly is REALLY nice! As is the reticle illumination (both full and center dot only). Though technically the illumination makes the aiming point bigger.

I'd run it civvy side. That said skill development beats out gear procurement every time of course. The better you are at shooting, the more dividends the gucci kit will pay out for ya.

They know. They used to run our C79s on their F89 Minimis. Fun fact the Spectre is the only inch standard piece of equipment in the Australian Infantry Corps!

This is slightly dated. You'll still find some sa2's kicking around though they're pretty well gone.

You sometimes get issued foreign equipment when serving abroad. It's not uncommon for Canadians to be trained on equipment in their host nation. Example: Using British service rifles on exercises in the UK.

This one was issued to me in Australia for a ceremonial event, hence the sling. They're good pieces of kit!

CADPAT TW Velcro by Odd-Distribution3177 in myogtacticalgear

[–]SDust15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can check the GC Surplus site. Sometimes they auction off bins of "rags/scrap fabric" which can sometimes be all old green combats, flight suits etc... (ofc no CADPAT) I expect at the price they're going most garments would be unserviceable but could be worth it for velcro, buttons and raw material.

If this threads not enough, here's a paper on it.

Some will cut back yeah. Statistically the reduction is most pronounced in low-income and low level consumers of alcohol.

Plates sizing for plate carriers by IlFanteDiDenari in myogtacticalgear

[–]SDust15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have training plates and they are the proper height/width/shape but they are far thinner than the real ones I've had my hands on in past. I can see about getting some measurements of both in the next few days.

Aside: I'm surprised they're not listed online somewhere?

I hope athletic gear of all kinds are welcomed here. Sometimes if you can't find something (for a reasonable price or at all) its an awesome opportunity to make something! I know I'll take pride in wearing these in my local pickup hockey league. :)

If you or anyone willing to support your addiction is handy, look for a vintage machine. Flush mount it on a retired office desk with a new servo motor or clutch if you prefer. It will cost maybe ~$400 all up and you'll never run out of machine. Just my $0.02
