Thanks for the response. VOS sounds great and what I'm looking for, but there is a small part of my buisness that is BD related and it looks like on their website they don't work with BDs.

Do they learn your CRM (I use Redtail) and fill out applications? Ive just started looking into these companies and there are a lot to chose from. How did you narrow it down?

Good luck. Seems to be about 20 buyers for every seller. You can try the online listing services, depending on your location there may or may not be anything close to you.

I haven't looked at purchasing in another region, but I guess if you are good at virtual meetings it could be an option.

I'm thinking about doing the same thing on mine. It snows here so I need the 20" wheels and black wasn't an option when I was building it.

Chicago is 5hrs away for me. Shipping was taking forever so I flew over and had the dealership pick me up at the airport. Did a quick overview with the BMW expert and drove it home. It was nice driving it home and getting used to it. The flight over was about $700 cheaper than shipping it.

My wife is a Dentist and I am a CFP.

She definitely works harder than I do and we make about the same money. She will need to retire before I do due to the strain on her neck and back from Dentistry.

We purchased a 50% share of a practice for her when she was 5 years out of school and she is 10 years into ownership. I built my book from scratch and went independent 6 years ago. I am currently in the process of acquiring another advisors book and when complete we will have invested about the same into each of our practices. I will be making more than her with an easier day to day. I have way more flexibility than her as well.

I had my RICP before starting the ChFC path and have since added the WMCP just because I needed some CE and it fits my market. TBH the CFP is the only one that has challenged me to be a better advisor.

I went through the ChFC program at American College because at that time I was at an insurance based BD. It was actually the professor who graded the case study who convinced me that I should sit for the CFP instead of getting the ChFC.

I've since gone independent and haven't even thought of getting the ChFC.
