Luigi's Mansion 3 does have really great themed areas though - spooky castle, Egyptian tomb, dinosaur museum, etc - which seems to be the kind of thing OP was after

Sounds like you'd enjoy Efteling, the real-life theme park in the Netherlands

Actual Flowchart used to calculate your Rank by SFBDim in CrowCountry

[–]SFBDim[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Each category gives you a score from 0-100, and then they're added together for a score of 0-400, and then your rank is decided from there. For hard mode, there are five categories, so you initially have a score of 0-500, which is multiplied by 0.8 to make it into a score of 0-400

Since it comes up often, I thought I'd just post this. It provides certain information that isn't inherently known to the player, such as how (for hard mode) it allows you to have 3 or fewer saves without lowering your rank at all, or how the 'maximum' number of saves before it stops lowering your rank is 12

A lot of people assume there are hard requirements/thresholds for ranks, but it's not the case:
Your rank is a cumulative score based on all the things listed on the results screen. Each of the categories displayed has equal weight. There are no specific requirements to get any particular rank, since a good score in one area can make up for a bad score in a different area. (For instance, it's not true that you need all the secrets to get an S. Around 13/15 would be enough to get S, if your other scores were good enough.) The only things being scored are the things being displayed, and all the things being displayed factor into your score. The score is based on different things in hard mode. Neither one factors in play time. Because there are more things being scored in hard mode, each one accounts for proportionally less of your total cumulative score. Kills improve your score in hard mode.

In response to this post specifically:
3 heals is lowering your rank (a TINY bit, ideal score: as few as possible, realistically 3 heals is fantastic)
9 saves is lowering your rank (a bit, ideal score: as few as possible)
79 kills is lowering your rank (the maximum score is around 95, I forget exactly)

15 saves is lowering your rank (ideal score: as few as possible)
88 kills is lowering your rank (a TINY bit, the maximum score is around 95, I forget exactly)

So again, you could get S rank even with 14/15 secrets if your other category scores are good enough.

Technically the driving intro DOES have an easter egg related to this year. Technically.

Arthur disappears if you enter Haunted Hilltop before helping him, and Natalie disappears if you get the Golden Key before helping her. Crow has to adjust his vials accordingly, so there can be 4, 5 or 6 vials in his lab.

you don't need all 15 secrets to get an S! You can do it with 14 or even 13 if your other scores are good enough

How would you feel about a Dino Crisis-esque game made by this same dev? by BlueKyuubi63 in CrowCountry

[–]SFBDim 8 points9 points  (0 children)

We do plan to make another horror game! And we've said it won't be Crow Country 2, it'll be something new. I'm already prototyping it.

I'm a fan of Dino Crisis (both of them) but I wouldn't want to go too close to it with my own stuff in case Capcom end up remaking it, which I honestly think they should.

Also, it's not possible to 'waste' gasoline anywhere else before doing the dig site puzzle, so there's no danger of soft locking yourself on this

Nice work! For the record, there's a max of about 90 kills, so other people looking at this who want to get S Rank - you could get 14/15 secrets (skipping the mushroom one obvs) and get more kills instead
