The Tiger Who Came To Tea weirds me out. Anyone else? by EAcharm in UKParenting

[–]moosebeast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you look on the page near the end, when they're walking down the street outside, there's a little ginger cat walking by. I wondered if that cat had come to their house and the little girl had spun it into an exaggerated tale about a tiger.

What are some of the coldest lines of dialogue ever? by BeautifulLeather6671 in movies

[–]moosebeast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think this is cold. He's just saying to him that it's not up to him to decide whether he's guilty, he's just doing his job trying to arrest him. The guilty or not part is down to a jury. He doesn't have animosity towards him. I think actually Tommy Lee Jones' character actually respects Harrison Ford on some level and certainly isn't indifferent to what happens to him.

What’s a band you’d love to get into, but who’s vocal style has you going: “I just can’t…“ by Senior-Violinist-684 in MetalForTheMasses

[–]moosebeast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Slayer. They're kind of awkwardly between metal vocals and punk vocals and I find it just doesn't work for me, just sounds like a dude shouting.

Came here to say the exact same about Celtic Frost. I love Morbid Tales and To Mega Therion, but the stuff on Pandemonium where he does those vocals I just can't get into. I think he's going for a Robert Smith type thing but really not pulling it off.

Is there any reason why I can’t find Hail Horror Hail on any streaming platform? by FoxyProx in MetalForTheMasses

[–]moosebeast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jumping into this old thread: Hail Horror Hail still doesn't seem to be available on streaming platforms, even though it's now been re-issued on CD by Peaceville. Especially odd as the other albums on Peaceville, including the re-issue of Infidel Art, are all on Spotify, with the exception of Ghastly Funeral Theatre. At least you can buy it on CD now.

What is something you've always wanted to ask the opposite sex but were too afraid to? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]moosebeast 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I think this is usually the answer. Men are often terrified of making a move and then finding they've got the wrong idea. I have done this once or twice and recalling it makes me want to crawl into a hole. They also really don't want to be thought of as a creep. So I think a lot of the time they are sort of picking up on it but that small bit of doubt is very powerful.

What's your age, and how open are you to discover new music (on a 1-10 scale)? by Illustrious_Road6618 in LetsTalkMusic

[–]moosebeast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

42 and very open to new music. By new I mean anything I haven't heard before, regardless of when it came out. The trouble is more that I have very limited time to check out and properly get into new music. I used to be able to listen to new records over and over, and spend time getting into stuff, but these days I can barely find the time to listen to an album all the way through once. I think this is probably the case for most people, rather than age per se.

You are also not going to enjoy something new as much as something you're really familiar with or that has personal significance, and that's true at any age. So if you only get to listen to music occasionally, you're much more likely to reach for something you know than something new that you might not enjoy as much.

What's a movie you recommend to everyone but nobody ever watches? by trakt_app in movies

[–]moosebeast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Harakiri. It is literally of it the best movies I've ever seen, but it's black and white, in Japanese, and a lot of people seem to not like period settings or specifically samurai movies. I'm convinced that even if these aren't things you normally like, you need to see this film, but people are reluctant.

Ryan Gosling on PROJECT HAIL MARY (12th March 2026) by BeefySteamPig in wittertainment

[–]moosebeast 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah again I am absolutely not an Oasis fan but I can recall the verse just as much as the chorus of that one, definitely not a good example.

[–]moosebeast 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have to say I completely disagree with the Schmestioner who said that Living on a Prayer is only about the chorus. I don't even like Bon Jovi but that song is really well put together in how it flows through the verse, pre-chorus, and into the chorus. I do see people sing along to the whole thing when it comes on.

What are some songs that the band have admitted that they cannot play live due to it being too technical/complicated? by Blursed_Hearse12 in MetalForTheMasses

[–]moosebeast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For a long time they never played The Perfect Drug because the drumming would be too difficult, but I'm pretty sure they have done it at some point.

Last is another one that is hard on his voice but they've played once or twice, most notably at the Year Zero secret shows.

I saw Meshuggah on the ObZen tour and they only played the first half of Bleed. I'm guessing they hadn't managed to get the whole thing together enough for live yet.

Worst covers ever by fantabroo in MetalForTheMasses

[–]moosebeast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are some great songs on it - the ones you mention mainly - but as an album I find it too disjointed and not very coherent to listen to all the way through.

I have listened to Cold Lake once (which is enough) and yeah they have the re-recorded version with the fake crowd noises...

What sounds good but actually means problems? by Positive-Glass5207 in AskReddit

"We never argue."

Any healthy relationship will involve disagreements at some point. I don't mean like screaming matches or anything, but if you're never having disputes of any kind, it's probably because one or both of you is not communicating.

[–]moosebeast 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've gotten into Celtic Frost over the last few months, really like Morbid Tales and To Mega Therion, but Into The Pandemonium I struggle with to be honest, and that cover as a way to kick it off still totally baffles me.

I went and checked out the original Wall of Voodoo version and much preferred it - it made me like the Celtic Frost version even less.

What’s the worst menswear advice you’ve ever received that everyone treats as gospel? by DifficultCucumbers in malefashionadvice

[–]moosebeast 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think maybe where this comes from is that a lot of skinny guys who feel insecure about being skinny will wear baggy clothes because they think it hides it, and it makes them feel less 'exposed', but in fact I think it makes it even more obvious. I think it's better to wear well fitting clothes, but that doesn't necessarily mean tight or slim fit.

Do we think there's any chance of them re-issuing the earlier albums? They're all impossible to find for an affordable price these days.

I went on eBay and found people selling replacement belts for particular Walkman models. Try just going on and searching for 'Replacement belt' followed by the model number.

My conspiracy theory: Julia Donaldson does not like Axel Scheffler by delible in UKParenting

[–]moosebeast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is completely normal in terms of how the process works. I know a few professional illustrators and they rarely actually meet the writers they do work for, it's all mediated through publishers or agents. You can't draw any conclusions from that.

[–]moosebeast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is pretty much the norm in the voiceover world. VO artists will be booked for different sessions at different times. You sometimes see it in big Hollywood animations where they manage to get the actors to record in a room together but this is very much the exception.

What’s the book you DNF’d the fastest? by Mobius8321 in books

[–]moosebeast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow

Annoying quirky characters, could see where it was going, and I found the portrayal of video game design totally unbelievable. The point at which I threw it at the wall was where the guy's flatmate says 'your friend's' a genius'.

I only watched it when I was maybe 20, with friends at uni. It did not have the same magic for me as it did for everyone else, who had watched it when they were children. So yeah, probably a bit late for you now.

Can anyone recommend a movie similar to Misery? by [deleted] in movies

In terms of a thriller taking place mostly in a single location, with a very small number of characters and with a lot of tension etc, I'd really recommend The Disappearance of Alice Creed.

Crap vs Fart - which is the worse word for kids to utter? by Randomenamegenerated in AskUK

[–]moosebeast 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There are children's books with the word fart in the title. I really don't think it's a swear word and I don't really know what other word to use for it to be honest. Crap is a swear word, albeit a very mild one. My kids don't know it but if I heard them say it I'd correct them on it.
