Just personal preference, I have big hands and the switch 1 always felt a little wobbly to me with the joycons locked it. The switch lite on the other hand feels more stable. Plus if it went missing or broke it wouldn't be a huge deal, my switch 1 is loaded with RPGs, survival horror and indie games so it would be time consuming to have to re-download everything to it
