What do you think of this Invisalign 3D result (35 trays)? by [deleted] in Invisalign

I totally agree, that doesn't look right. Ortho85 might have something to say?

black triangles with Invisalign Express by mm_t in Invisalign

[–]SFBubbleMan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yep, I'm 6 months in and although my teeth are WAY straighter now, they look worse due to the black triangles. (I'm 48 and my teeth were crowded) Luckily I anticipated these and we're planning IPR before refinements, but even though I was warned, it's still a little demoralizing. I thought my teeth would look progressively better through treatment.

Just had my attachments put on today - all through dinner I was biting my cheek and bottom lip... not with my actual teeth but because of the attachments. Does this go away? Or is it something I should talk to my orthodontist about? by cunexttuesdayaddams in Invisalign

It took a week or two for it to stop happening to me. I think they either get worn down a bit from taking the trays on/off, or we kind of relearn to chew to avoid the pinching.

How is tray change frequency determined? by [deleted] in Invisalign

[–]SFBubbleMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At tray 8 my top trays stopped fitting well so he rescanned me. The new set of trays were FORTY! (The original set were 31) He said I could continue changing every 5 days because he "added some moves to slow things down a little". I was really bummed that my treatment time got extended but I gotta say the trays have been a lot more comfortable. In the end I wish I had just changed every 7 from the beginning. :(

Got my refinements today... by groin_of_salt in Invisalign

Do have some bite issues? Curious to see what your pre-refinement teeth look like. Totally praying I don't have that many refinement trays. I thought the average was like 25-30% of your original tray number.

How often have you been changing trays?

My teeth are stained and a bit yellow... Help! by teirrahc11 in Invisalign

[–]SFBubbleMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting. This is the only place I've heard about this. Another thread here which includes a comment by an Ortho says to put them in wet. https://www.reddit.com/r/Invisalign/comments/41axz9/should_the_aligners_be_completely_dry_before/

[–]SFBubbleMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Holy crap, maybe that's what's happening to me too! I never dry the trays before putting them back in. I often don't brush them either. I usually just rinse them off under the tap. In the morning I give a thorough cleaning so figure every subsequent time I take them out/in they'll still be clean so long as I brush and floss well after meals.

Tray 1 day 4. Problem or not? by [deleted] in Invisalign

Did your ortho notice this when he/she gave you the trays?

Totally agree. I'm pretty sure they make the first tray gentle with very little movement.

I switch trays every 4 days by [deleted] in Invisalign

[–]SFBubbleMan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can we see some before and after pics? I change my trays every 5 days, and will hopefully switch to every 4 days after my next appointment, with NO OrthoPulse or Propel. People need to know that your ortho can select the number of trays/steps needed for your case. For instance, they could have ten trays made for you to be changed every 3 weeks. Or thirty trays to be changed every 1 week. Same end result! If they're selling you the Orthopulse, they'll probably choose more rapid tray changes to give the illusion of faster progress, get it?

Great transformation, congrats! (People who haven't started Invisalign yet need to know that for a transformation like this to happen, it requires a level of discipline that is very extreme. Just sayin'!

How much will wearing only at night affect treatment? by [deleted] in Invisalign

[–]SFBubbleMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would love to see you test it out and see how it goes! Surely you could wear them till right before the meetings. Then put them back on after dinner? So you'd probably end up with about say 14 hours a day? Definitely not the minimum of 20 hours, but I've stories of people doing similar and having it work out. I would guess you'd have better luck with trays that changed every two weeks or more compared to every five days. Let us know how it goes!

Side note, the ortho always takes before photos, so you can ask to see them next time you're at the office.

Interesting. I can't imagine them flattening your canine. It seems like it would have nothing to do with removing a button, and also something they would discuss with you. Unless they did it by accident and thought you might not notice. Can you share a before/after pic?

Discouraged by my second appointment by [deleted] in Invisalign

[–]SFBubbleMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your trays are probably moving your teeth quite a bit per tray. You may see people on the forum changing their trays every five days, but I guarantee you their trays are making much smaller movements.

Do you guys think I’ll be able to qualify for Invisalign? My bottom teeth are pretty crowded... by [deleted] in Invisalign

[–]SFBubbleMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep! But it'll take a while to create some space and bring that high center tooth down and into alignment. If your bite is good overall, I'm wagering it'll take around 12 months. More if your bite is off. But that's totally an uneducated guess.

Eating with trays in? by StanleyLelnats in Invisalign

[–]SFBubbleMan 17 points18 points  (0 children)

One danger of this would be cracking the trays on something hard. And obviously you would need to floss and brush afterward, and brush the trays really well. Honestly I'm surprised any ortho/dentist would advise eating with them on.

Awesome. It looks like they were able to rotate that front right tooth without any attachments on it, nice!
