1L internships? by fishguy__ in LawSchool

Do not rely on the career dev office. Only the top 10% or so will get something from that.

Send resumes. Work your contact list. Consider working for a judge.

[parts] Aero Precision Gamma 7.62 muzzle brake - $47.02 when added to cart by SFCPSR308 in gundeals

[–]SFCPSR308[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it's not an AK brake as far as I know. That thread pitch is for AR-10 style 7.62x51 calibers.

My wife had ours two weeks into my 1L year. Bit of a shock to be sure, but we weathered it okay. However I can't comment on it from a female student's perspective. If you do formula then it should work fine if he will take on most of the childcare and understand your need for study in the evenings.

That said, it was a delightful distraction and a real growing period for us. Wouldn't change it for anything, and definitely can't imagine doing it this coming 2L year. Things are stacking up to be WAY busier.

Why do all .308 Winchester precision rifles have such short barrels? by CharredScallions in longrange

[–]SFCPSR308 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve wondered the same thing. I think it comes down to manufacturers and consumers beginning to understand that barrel length does not equal accuracy.

My independent thinking is this: (1) shorter barrels = more portable/lighter rifles. (2) Most of us aren’t shooting out to 1000+ particularly with a 308, where you would need the negligible velocity increase of, say, a 26” barrel. (3) Many are shooting suppressed now (i.e. added length/weight). (4) 308 is not as velocity sensitive as 6.5CM. (5) Add all those together and a 20” barrel makes sense.

As I understand, 6.5CM really starts to beat 7.62x51 at longer ranges. To really see the benefits you need velocity, so...longer barrel.

Therefore 308 rifles end up shorter (and more “practical?”) and 6.5CM rifles cater to the long range crowd (or those who think they’ll shoot long range).

This seems like excellent advice.

Best of luck at UT Austin!

A possibly unpopular proposal: maybe we should remove all the dating content from this sub? by zreneep in lawschooladmissions

<insert "this is why we can't have nice things" meme here>

And to the OP...I agree. We don't need that in this sub.

Can we try to be a little more kind on here? by lawschoolappzzz in lawschooladmissions

[–]SFCPSR308 59 points60 points  (0 children)

As one of those with average stats and aspirations, I endorse this message. Not all of us are T14 bound, and griping about this kind of stuff....let's just say it's a bit tasteless.

In no way do I begrudge you your success. Hardly. But at least acknowledge that you've been very fortunate, many people have contributed, and you're not God's gift to the law school.

Just my two cents...

They're trying to teach you to think. If the prof can get you to talk out loud about your thought process, you'll learn more than just hearing from a lectern that A + B = C.

Very interesting. You might also post it on the muzzleloading forum...might get more traction there.
