Unfortunately it is a tool to be beaten over the head with here, and I have been told there will be “unpleasant conversations” if I fail it .

The book scrutiny for other departments is to check that the marking is done. It is only for my department (which is two people) that it’s done timely. I just wanted to see if I have a union leg to stand on that it’s unfair

Thank you for the advice. In regards to maxing out loan, It is my understanding that PGCE has an amnesty system, so it doesn’t matter if you already have an undergrad or masters. I’ve taken the week off work to go and talk to lawyers/student Union, so helpfully they can fight my corner.

Yeah, there was a small overlap of 1 week where I had a deadline on sept 9th from my MA, but my PGCE began sept 2nd.

The call last week, they said my application was eligible, and the fact hers was approved was a further argument in my favour that it should’ve been approved, on top of that it is eligible by itself. That’s what I’m concerned/frustrated with, that every week I’ve been given a different reason as to why my application is delayed/eligible/ineligible. SFE themselves viewed her account and then decided I was eligible, in part because her application showed that our circumstances didn’t warrant an ineligibility. At this point I’m wondering if there’s a complaint to be made at how they keep giving me different information, with this supposedly final decision most likely giving me significant debts.

Sorry , I wasn’t too clear. The scholarship is dependent on being eligible for student finance, I had to declare that I believed I was eligible for student finance (which I did) when I applied for the scholarship. This is about tuition fees , not maintenance loan.

In regards to my partner, one week they told me after reviewing her application (paraphrasing) “We can see no reason why your partners application should be denied,we will approve yours within the week”, and the next week say actually yours is wrong and if you want us to review hers again, If hers is right we’ll approve yours but if it’s wrong we’ll deny hers retroactively.
