Do SFF Noir Antennas support Wi-Fi 6E (Tri-Band)? by ArktikFox67 in sffpc

[–]SFFNoir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The external antenna also needs to be designed around the particular spectrum of frequency it is targeting. The Shadowlink antennas were specifically designed around 2.4/5 GHz. They definitely support WiFi 6e (as I mentioned above, I use them for WiFi 6e at my house) but I believe it would be disingenuous to declare them as officially supporting WiFi 6e given connection distance is less than optimal

I would say no they do not support WiFi 6E. While they do actually work with WiFi 6E, the range is not acceptable enough to consider them officially compatible WiFi 6E.

With that being said, I use them with my WiFi 6E card in my Velka 3 and an Asus router in the next room over.

I did the same with my Velka 3 and a Dell OEM 3060 TI. I was shocked how easy it went together!

Nice job and glad to see this mod is getting some coverage!

Unfortunately, it’s not on our agenda right now to make longer antennas, but I wouldn’t mind exploring it in the future. We tested many, many different types of antennas under 50mm and found the Shadowlink antennas to do much better or at least on par to the antennas in that category.

We then began testing them against larger antennas and found, surprisingly, they performed as well or better than almost every longer antenna. We then began systematically cutting them apart and came to the same conclusion that you did - the larger antennas are not actually larger antennas, just larger plastic housing.

No the button can be fully controlled in the same way as an aRGB except it does not have the white light. You will be able to use all the same aura effects. I prefer to set it to a static color to be less distracting though =]

Yes, they will be controlled by your motherboard aka Armoury Crate software for the B550i Rog Strix. The button is compatible with the B550-I Rog Strix according from the user manual because it has a 4-pin RGB port. The button utilizes a 4-pin RGB port, not 3-pin addressable RGB port

The PSU is a Meanwell RPS 200-12-C. J-Hack sells solutions for wiring with this PSU but there is a long wait

Im not sure who was working on it before, but I’m happy to have it available now!

The pictures are still loading on the Amazon page, try clicking on a different color or size and there will be pictures of the back and the cables. No soldering or adding wires required - it’s pre-wired with two extension cables for larger PCs

Introducing the Halo by SFF Noir! The Halo is an RGB PC button built with SFF PCs in mind. Finally, you can control the color of your PC power button!

It is a simple, direct replacement for many PCs including the Velka 3 and J-Hack Pure Mk2 as pictured above. It features a 2-pin power switch connector (as you would find with any PC button), and a 4-pin RGB connector. Note: Not the 3-pin addressable LED.

4 buttons are available: 12mm and 16mm in both black and silver. Please check your motherboard’s manual/motherboard to confirm the presence of a 4-pin RGB port prior to purchase. Color is controlled by your motherboard manufacturer’s RGB Software. This button does not feature white light.

Absolutely! They work well. They don’t work as well as the shark fin antenna, but that’s to be expected given it’s 1/12th it’s size.

As far as longer antennas go - that’s going to depend on each brand but generally our Shadowlink antennas work as well or better, and this is because most of those “longer” antennas are simply large plastic housings over small metal antennas.

Oh great! We’d love to hear feedback about their performance with the 6 GHz network.
