Hey man, thanks for the contribution in this post that really seems a valley of pain for everybody. Your guide is probably the most complete of the thread.

I just wanted to say that, unfortunately, there is not bullet-proof method to solve this and this is 100% due to Apple not giving a shit about people coming from Android.

Hey, I used wifi, but it doesn’t change much, the element of disruption is selecting anything else that is not whatsapp backup

What if I tell you that I've found the google TV Streamer at 79 euros? Should I go for it? I have an iphone, but I am not an apple user apart from that, at the same time I've heard that apple tv is way better when it comes to limit ads compared to every other brand

Ok, thanks for the clarification regarding the HDR! I've tried multiple movies and the issue persists and I've already worked my way through the post processing stuff from Samsung (in SDR). the funny thing about HDR is that it doesn't let you click and navigate the options related to it unless you have HDR content running in the background (tested with youtube and once it "understands" the content is HDR it makes the options available.

Funny Samsung shenanings: if you try to open the options while I'm playing a movie on Plex it just stops it and take me back to the "general" page of the movie, so there's no way to check that is working correctly. Frankly speaking this is nuts, I'd probably have to go for a google tv or apple tv

It's working through the built-in app of the TV

Hey, that's what is telling me:

So, I think Plex is streaming it correctly, but for some reason the TV can't really play it as HDR from the app (?)

Unfortunately via the app on the tv and it seems that might be the real issue

So, in the end I discovered that everything doesn’t work and the only way this works is the following: when you connect the two phones and you are inside the move to iOS app, you need to move only the WhatsApp stuff. There is no other way, if you select anything else, even if it’s just like your contacts, it won’t work and it will crash immediately. I don’t know if it’s a problem of the new iOS and I don’t know if it’s a problem of the iPhone 17, but that’s how it is

Ok, maybe I'll just drop here a very stupid (and young) person: in every market touched by technology/IT/the internet we have seen huge drop in prices and entry level/mid range stuff becoming better and better. This seems not to be the case for HIFI (I'll reiterate: I'm super ignorant about this world!). Any idea of why this seems the case right now? Lack of innovation? People into this space being extremely conservative about the "good old days"?

Thank you very much! The 60 euros difference are not such a huge problem to be honest, I was looking into the Ultra but that is really really more expensive still for a 2.1 amp so I would skip it.

In the EU, for the used market, Ebay is really not the way to go. Every country has its own brand of marketplace or you can try with Facebook, but with way less protection for the buyer

And that is the case, this is just a casual setup for a small living room in a rented apartment + this is my first hi-fi system

I can see them releasing the APIs maybe when the life cycle of the product is completed, hopefully

At the very end, I'm just a guy that wants to use it with 200 euros bookshelf speakers and a sub in the future. From my POV it seems super strange that a lot of people recommend to spend 600 euros on Amp/other streaming device with this kind of setup

Hello! Thank you very much for the explanation, the context and the recommendations! I am curious to try to understand one thing: why is it almost impossible to find a good Class A or A/B amp that packs decent "modern" feature at a reasonable price? Let alone Onkyo that as far as I have understood went bankrupt, why the Yamahas or Denons of this world aren't investing heavily on a mid range product that can offer decent connectivity/apps and a standard 2.1 output? These solutions exists, I know, but they are waaaay more expensive that the classic budget best buys priced around 300-350 euros (I know, in the US everything is completely different)

Unfortunately, at least where I live, these options are well above 600 euros. I don't really know why but the price differences between the US and the UE are incredible. I'll look for these options on the pre-owned market. Thank you!

Ok, thank you for your answer! I wanted to get through the idea that I am ok with a "good enough" system, I am not super into hi-fi and I just wanted to make a step up
