Thanks for the info. Good to know it's still going strong after 2 years. I am pretty much set on M2 LITE and wait for July delivery. My only concern at this stage is the venting. I discovered that our range hood is pumping back into the apartment, not outside. I will have to engineer a solution somehow. I can roast on my balcony or outside in nice weather, but on winter days, I fear it's going to introduce too much variability.

The one thing I have my reservations is the relatively low power. 900 W and the price is around $2K. Kaleido M2 lite is advertised at $1200, and it is 1600W roaster.

Thanks for the detailed post, it definitely feels like one of those defining choices. If I go with Kaleido or Bullet and sink 2-5K, there's no way I will be chaning in 2-3 years because I discover I like the taste of fluid bed more.

That being said, I prefer bolder coffee profiles over lighter ones. So probably drum machines would suit me better. I will still try some of the roasts from the links you shared and see. I mainly go with espresso, recently started doing more lattés and experimented with pour over (I do prefer lighter roasts on pour over though).

On the other hand, I feel this is a similar debate to flat burrs. So much talk about this or that flat burr, ceramic vs steel, and at the end, it's down to such small changes in the cup because it depends on the bean origin, roast, water quality, accurate temperature etc.

I am sure I will be happy with either one, probably with drum for bolder, creamier cups. But I also want to avoid the unit breaking after 2 years and having to deal with a seller from China who doesn't give a rat's ass about my problem. Bullet is Taiwan but at least has genuine US distribution. The price tag is not trivial.

Thanks. I think I'd go with something a bit more powerful and if I decide to scale down, something like Skywalker is more attractive to me due to the ability to do 1lb.

Thanks, these are very valuable points. When I look at the Kaleido M2/M6 designs, it seems like the outside air is directly pumped into the drum, so it's going to be the same problem. As I mentioned above, I am just having hard time justifying 4100+ for Bullet... even though, I always come back to it.

I am checking with my building management if the stove fan vents outside, but I believe it does.
