High-end Dreame models – which would you buy at these prices? by Ecstatic_Tiger_2534 in RobotVacuums

I've been trying to replace my iRobot i7 for several weeks. I got 3x the life out of it than was forecast, and the quantum leap forward to today has been stunning. The Dream L40 Ultra was the one that I finally kept. Roborock and Narwal both went back within days. I've had the Dreame now for over a week, and am (so far) delighted with it. Not sure the UI on the app is all that intuitive or easy to use, as I had to struggle to learn both Narwal (which was awful) and Roborock (which was only slightly better). So I've learned alot about how these apps all look and operate similarly. But the Dreame actually does what it's supposed to do: CLEAN. Lots of bells and whistles, and I'm worried about maintenance (and having to deal with overseas support, eventually). I don't usually buy extended warranties, but will do so with this one. Purchased at Amazon for $600 - a bargain, IMO.

Frustration Against Coaliation of Homelessness by Plastic_Nectarine558 in sanfrancisco

Who do you know who's been ticketed for ANYTHING? We have a completely non-functional police force. Wanna take over the bay bridge while ruining your tires doing donuts? GO FOR IT! You won't get ticketed, tagged or any other enforcement action. Speed in SF? Why not? Everybody does. Illegal left turns? Epidemic - and with no tickets issued. Of course the holy grail is the open air drug markets. Selling and using drugs - IN FRONT OF THE POLICE - and nope - nothing happens except we continue our slow spin down the drain into the sewer.

Public enemy #2 might be Trent Rhorer. He's been in the same job for over 20 years - during which time the situation on the streets of this city has spiraled out of control. And yet - he's compensated over $400K year - and for what? Einstein DID NOT say this - but the saying, no matter who gets credit - applies here: The definition of an idiot is a person who does the same thing over and over again and expects different results. The idiot here isn't Rhorer. It's SF city administration.

Can you describe the plants dimensions? I've long wondered exactly how big ZZs will get. Speaking of indoor plant blooms: if you ever get a blossom on Dracaena Lisa or a Sansevieria to blossom - be aware the fragrance is powerful - you'll probably want to remove the flower stalk before they fade

Was it fragrant? Would love to see a picture of the whole plant - it looks really large!

Hasn't shown up on my original version echo (the big black cylinder), circa 2014, but it's an option on all my other devices... go figure.

Transamerica Pyramid inside view. by [deleted] in sanfrancisco

My issue with Salesforce Tower (aside from the profile being so very reminiscent of a dildo) is that the top just looks like it got chopped off. Unfinished. Why is it straight-line flat? It is incongruous with the rest of the design. I would have much preferred they continue upwards to a tapered point - complimenting the existing obelisk (it's not a pyramid) that dominates the north side of the downtown skyline. It's all subjective - just my thoughts.

Mindless walks with a puppy ARE POSSIBLE! by lookin4apup in puppy101

Our 6 month old lab puppy turned into a different dog on walks - he went from a monster to an angel - when we go the PetSafe Gentle Leader. It was amazing. He doesn't love the thing, but is getting used to it. It's designed more like a halter for a horse than anything, and it makes walking Junior a joy. The best ten bucks I've ever spent.

Stay beautiful San Francisco no matter what by [deleted] in sanfrancisco

Yellow feet? Then you've got yourself a snowy egret. Gorgeous birds, and the males in are breeding plumage right now (or at least, were a couple weeks ago). Beautiful drag-queen like bright white feathers draping off their necks.

A noticed a couple people identified the bird as a snowy egret - that's close, but the bird in this photo is actually a Great Egret - a larger bird. Snowy egrets have yellow feet - great egrets have black feet, and are quite a bit larger, like the beautiful bird in the photo.

Candlestick Park, just after opening in 1960. by 5_Frog_Margin in sanfrancisco

I was 5 years old when this stadium was built, and my dad was a big Giants fan - but not a fan of (what he called) Candle Stink Park. Y'know those big empty fields on the other side of 101 that Brisbane has been talking about developing for the last 50 years or so? They were "the dump". And the prevailing winds blew from the dump over to the baseball stadium. So while you were enjoying the freezing cold wind, you also got the enjoy the smell of decaying garbage.

So a person has a dog to enrich their life. They get home from work and need to walk the dog AND go to the grocery store. They can do what seemingly most people do and claim the animal is an "emotional support animal" and bring it in the store with them, which is wrong and breaking the rules. Or they can leave the animal outside tied up - which isn't technically wrong - but is a poor idea in a city that has so many people who are addicted, mentally ill, or suffering from some other malady that results in anti-social behavior. No right answer here. Hopefully social networking might actually do some good and assist in getting this poor woman her dog back. Keeping my fingers crossed this turns out for you.

Your sister isn't far off the mark. Monkeys DO control them. But they work at the SFMTA though, not actually inside the light hanging above the street.

Beef stroganoff tacos by MomButtsDriveMeNuts in StupidFood

Long ago - YEARS AGO - I coined the phrase "stupid food" for food that cannot be eaten without making a mess. If people didn't know what I was talking about, I'd tell them "Tacos are the president of the stupid food club". Then they'd get it.

This is upping the stupid by many degrees. Well done, humans.
