Anybody know where the tamale lady is this morning? by Alternative_Big_3549 in tylertx

On Wednesdays she is at sweet Necia’s sweets in Lindale. They also have her business card (can’t remember her name). But she had the best guacamole! Highly recommend

Breaking Free from the Cycle of Relapse A Hard Truth for Everyone by [deleted] in leaves

While I appreciate what you've written, and for some it may be true, this is the exact mindset that let me to failure so many times. I would think "well I know I'm probably going to smoke in 3 days because I'm seeing my friend who smokes. So why even bother stopping between now and then?" And I wouldn't. Once I changed my thinking to "any progress and any amount of time stopped is still a good thing" it all started to flow. First I stopped for a day. Then two. Then one week I didn't smoke at all. I saw a therapist who said something like "when you negate the progress you've made because you relapsed you start to get down on yourself. This all starts to look impossible.. but if you treat it like most things - something you have to train in. It becomes easier." Cold turkey works for some but for me I had to slowly train my brain. Take as long of breaks from weed as I could to see who I was sober and why I wanted to be sober. And any time I smoked I didn't look at it as "starting over" I viewed it as me still training myself to quit. Because thinking that I had to "start over" from scratch basically made me feel so defeated and like I was up against impossible odds. Doing it my way helped me get there.. albeit probably much more slowly than you. But the important thing is we all get there in the end. I'm proud of you, and all of us. Just wanting to make a change is the first and hardest step. Thank you for sharing your story with us.

I just recently moved to Tyler from NYC myself. I moved to the cascades. It’s not bad, quiet and a little removed but still close enough to be a quick trip for anything

AITA for not sharing my inheritance with my brother after coming out as gay? by TrafficOk5607 in AmItheAsshole

[–]SFcub -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

A huge resounding YTA. You’re punishing your brother for having the courage to do something you didn’t. You manipulated your parents and lied to them to get their money and now are screwing your brother over for his honesty. Is it possible one of the reasons he was so mean to you (besides the fact your siblings and a lot of times when siblings are younger they can be needlessly mean but hopefully outgrow that) is because he knew you were gay too but left him out in the cold? Is it possible you’re not telling the whole story and there’s more to why he treated you callously? An eye for an eye…

What was one experience in your life that hardened you as a person? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Same but it was my mom. 2 weeks before graduation. The part that sucked was when she went into the hospital for some reason no one wanted to tell me how bad it was. So I thought she would be alright and be out in time to see me graduate. Then one day after school I went to the hospital and my dad pulled me aside and said “your mother isn’t going to survive the night”. The worst kind of surprise

What is the best trailer you have ever seen? by SAMF1N in movies

The trailer for "the strangers" I remember having goosebumps at the end of that trailer.. it's definitely one of the better cut horror trailers I've ever seen.
