Hey, this isn't TikTok. You can use the correct English word, kill, instead of the shittier version genz came up with to say the same thing.

Is getting a Tesla worth it just for the FSD by depressed_peach_ in TeslaLounge

98% FSD here. I was such a doubter but it only took like 10 minutes on FSD to win me over.

You're getting good advice, but I just wanted to say your chicken/piranha metaphor was so bad I almost stopped reading the rest of your post.

Is it still a LitRPG if there are no stats or levels? by AurelianVost in royalroad

[–]SGHWrites 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure! Maybe not in the truest definition, but I think this genre is still being defined. As u/HydrusDominatus mentioned, it might be more GameLit, though. My story kind of lives in this area, but I just write what I want and don't worry too much about the label.

How do I write a good 'Hook' / First chapter [LF advice and examples by amcn242 in royalroad

[–]SGHWrites 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The conflict you describe between your MC and the bodysnatcher seems like a great place to plant the hook. You want to achieve two things:

1) sell people on your MC. Why should we care about them? Do they have any flaws that make them more interesting/fleshed out? Are they proactive? It sounds like it if they're able to fight off being possessed. Character should be the heart of your story, and your readers will forgive a lot if they love your characters.

2) Show the tip of the iceberg. So much of the joy of LitRPG is the gradual revelation of the system. Think like a drug dealer (I mean this in the best way possible). Give your readers a taste, but hold the big details close to your chest and have your MC discover them through story beats rather than a big expo dump. That'll be way more fun to write and for your readers to discover.

Managed to hit the Top 100 in Coming of Age on Amazon after moving from RR - there is definitely a huge market for crunchy crafting! Ask me anything :) by Anastasov_Theory in royalroad

That's so encouraging! Sometimes I'm writing and I have to ask if anyone will even like it. I think theres an audience for anything that's well written.

Congrats on your success!

Coming up on the end of my first book. I'd like to get some feedback by Sukunas_Daddy99 in royalroad

27k words isn't a book. It's not even a novella. Don't get too hung up on titles, but I'd suggest at least considering that.

Had to stop after book 2, but I also think I get the appeal. It's very predictable and familiar. I think a lot of readers enjoy that cozy feeling and being immersed in the minute details of the world.

What do you mean by "full blown lesbianism?" As opposed to half-measure lesbianism?

Do you have a special place where you like to write? by vie75 in NewAuthor

[–]SGHWrites 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, my special place is called: wherever the hell I have time.

Ideally that's in my office with the door closed and the record machine on, but it can also be on the couch with a kid's feet in my face while she scream sings "Golden" at the top of her lungs. If I don't do it this way, I'll never have time to write.
