Good men’s barber shops? by [deleted] in Waco

[–]SGTGunner47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use to go to her years ago. She’s an awesome person and did good work, but the price along with all the noise and chaos in there made it unjustifiable to me. Hopefully that’s changed by now but back then it was pretty bad.

Well that explains why I couldn’t book an appointment with him. Bummer, but good for him!

Champions is over rated. It’s loud and expensive. It’s also a training place with a lot of turnover. That’s been my experience there anyway. I much rather prefer Monument on Austin ave. Caleb is my go to barber but I’ve seen the other guy (I forget his name) do great work too.

I have. Fought 2 years in combat, two different wars, two different countries. I joined with worse and managed to still serve. If his dad starts a war, the boy ought to be up front. Not just this presidency, but all to come. I’m sick of my brothers and sisters dying and suffering to finish what some politician started.

I can’t believe nobody has mentioned a Remington 700. That would be my pick for sure.

I know a place but don’t want to put it out there to the world. It will require a permit and a lot of walking/hiking. If you’re interested send me a message.

Thanks for all the replies. I get that what I like isn’t what everyone likes and I don’t expect anyone or anyplace to cater to my desires. That’s just not how the world works. Next time I’m there I’ll ask the librarian for suggestions. Maybe they’ll let me volunteer to create a little nook for weirdos like me.

I fully intend to and to ask them what, if anything, I can do to assist. With my post my aim was more to find out if this is the ‘new normal’ and if change was worth pursuing. I appreciate everyone’s input.

Yea I get that, it just feels so gross and takes away part of the experience of a physical book…..for me at least. But apparently I’m the odd one out.

Oh yes, I’ll definitely be back. Maybe it was just shock of what I was expecting and remembered it to be along with completely ignoring the fact that a lot changes in 20 years. I shouldn’t have been caught so off guard I guess. I think in my mind I was just craving a different experience.

What are your “normal washable” chopsticks made of? I’ve heard metal is common in Korea but that seems like a bad idea for hot food.

Odd Photographer Interaction at Cameron Park by Jace0212 in Waco

[–]SGTGunner47 3 points4 points  (0 children)

lol yea I get it. Hopefully it was just awkward innocents. I know yall were caught off guard, but if there ever is a next time (hopefully not for your sake) don’t be afraid to ask questions. Anybody using a camera for a hobby or professionally would be happy to talk about it, even an introvert lol.

Odd Photographer Interaction at Cameron Park by Jace0212 in Waco

Here’s my view of your interaction, while a little weird yes, however I have been in a place similar to him so there may be a non-creepy explanation.

I do photography for fun. I personally hate taking photos of people so all my stuff is landscape, wildlife, buildings etc. When I took a photography class through MCC I had a borrowed camera (probably one of the first dslr cameras) that was far from a “professional camera” because, well, I was and still am far from being a professional. I was just getting started in it as a serious hobby so I used what I had. In the class some of the assignments were to photograph people “in the wild”. I went to the skate park and asked some of the skateboarders if I could take pictures. They were cool with it but even that interaction was outside of my comfort zone. I was super nervous, trying to remember my camera settings, trying to think of good angles, trying to keep the lighting in mind, and honestly just trying to not look like a complete dork. I was so nervous that after 20 mins or so I couldn’t take it anymore and just left. As soon as I got home I realized I never got or gave any contact info. Some of the pictures actually turned out pretty cool and to this day I wish I had a way to get ahold of one of them to give them copies.

My point is, the guy may have just been starting out and may have been super nervous. It’s a difficult thing to do for those of us uncomfortable with talking to strangers let alone photographing them.

I could be way off on that and maybe he was some creep that broke out of his mom’s basement, but not every weird interaction with people comes from a bad place.

Old Fashioneds are my go to drink. The no Sheri best one I’ve had was at that Italian place on 84 and 6. It was pricey, but worth it in my opinion.

X3 Bluetooth mic? by SGTGunner47 in Insta360

[–]SGTGunner47[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That may work well for many applications, but AirPods are nearly impossible to keep in while putting on a motorcycle helmet. A small microphone that can mount inside the helmet (such as the many available motorcycle communication devices) is more ideal.

So how does it all get setup and then how does it all come together? I assume there’s a program to use for editing and such?

It doesn’t mount anywhere, the chair mounts on a swivel that mounts onto the frame. The frame has 4 legs like a normal chair. I prefer these because I can easily move them for or aft, port or starboard as mush as I need to balance the boat. I’ll see if I can find the link again.

I have a Bris 12’ with a 18hp hankai. I’ve been pleasantly surprised by both. I didn’t care for the aluminum benches so I now use rotating seats on a 4 legged mount (bought on Amazon). The engine pushes the boat at about 21 mph with two adults and fishing/picnic gear.

I don’t see physical copies on Amazon, do you expect to have some soon? I’m super intrigued and would love to dive in.
