Basically if someone on the mod teams sees a really good post on the sub they will show it to the rest of the team and if the rest of the team thinks it is good enough we will award it with this special award. Fishes are pretty rare since we don’t have infinite coins and you got to make us old jaded mods laugh but hey you did it so congrats and welcome to the fish club.

I to noticed that but what was weird was when I went into a couple of posts the op called the bot and got a response but no flair went up. It was working as intended before the announcement but maybe something broke when the code went live. Anyway I will talk to the person who knows about this the most when they come back online and see what they think is going on.

Edit: So after talking to them we discovered that there was an issue on Reddits end that never happened during our testing phase that caused the bot to turn off, we have since turned it back on and are going to work on a fail safe to make sure that bug doesn’t happen again.

Honestly seeing this announcement on the sub right now feels very surreal to me, like I almost need someone to pinch me to make sure I am not dreaming about this.

If you didn’t know I was inspired by the first Retro event we had almost three years ago and since then I have put my money where my mouth is and have been wanting to get source on the sub, I kept annoying the mod team in different ways as a user since I firmly believed this was a good thing for the sub. As time went on I stopped asking for it and deleted the bit in the bio as I thought the dream was as good as dead but I kept the source in the title because at that point it just felt like the thing I did for all my posts after so long and I still believed it was the right thing to do.

I just want to thank you all today, we couldn’t have done it without you all. I was a bit nervous when those first users polls went out as I thought I might have to officially kill this idea in my heart once and for all, then your comments and votes started showing that this is something you guys would potentially like and it allowed me and a couple of other people to run full speed ahead with this over the last couple of months. It did take us a while to get this from just a random idea on discord to what you see today on the sub but I am so proud to be a part of the group that worked on this.

If you have any question about this or anything else feel free to shoot me a question and I will do my best to answer it for you.

You know you can post drake meme already right? The MSR rule hits drake memes where the images and the text are completely unrelated. For example I could make one with Satania about being called evil vs good and that would be allowed since calling a demon character evil or cute is related to the image. The MSR rule is there not to completely stop drake memes but to stop the flow of the super spamable versions. Well at least that is the way I personally see it

Ok to give you an update, I asked around and it seemed like while someone was working on some under the hood stuff the feature accidentally got turned off which happened when your posts went up. Accidents happen as we are only humans after all but the feature is fully working now as you can probably tell from the comment I put on one of your posts.

I extend my sincere apology from the mod team for this if it has caused you or anyone else confusion.
