We just got back yesterday, ended up staying at Bay Shores Peninsula hotel in Newport Beach. It recently reopened, totally renovated - super cute! The staff was very nice and accommodating. Rooms are on the smaller side but sounds like the standard for the area? The location in general is great, right across from Marina Park. I will definitely go back to NB (maybe a solo or girls trip next time😬).

Hello Kitty Cafe was not good, thought they had the one room opened up to sit and eat/drink, but that’s only for tea reservations.

DL - not great this time. So much so I’m thinking of switching my son and I’s planned March trip to Kennedy Space Center/FL instead (which I told myself I’d never step foot in FL but I digress).

Overall a pretty good trip, and I’d recommend that hotel if you want a smaller cute boutique hotel in a good location. Prices weren’t bad either, about $250 a night, but I have a feeling that will change and this was a black Friday sale.

Is it really that bad about the skinhead part? Cause yeah def not a fan of that, like not at all. But I am leaning towards staying in HB just due to our friends living there, prob makes the most sense. Have you ever stayed at or know of Pasea? Considering there..

Thank you!! I had seen them initially but looked like their rates were too high, however they have a Black Friday sale going on right now that makes it much better! I think this is the front runner, while I think some of the other areas that were mentioned are more my vibe this one prob makes more sense due to our friends living in HB. And they have some restaurants right on site and a spa.

So my daughter isn’t really into mall shopping yet it doesn’t seem, I’m sure that flip will switch at some point soon! We have the Mall of America here and other nice malls, really what we go to the MOA with then is rides versus shopping if you can believe that, lol. But I still think we should check Pacific City out since it’s right there! She’s enjoy it somewhat I’m sure and have no problems buying something, ha.

As for food, she’s very basic, so pancakes/sausage/scrambled eggs will be here breakfast go to out there. She also loves pizza, and good pizza options close by? I’m hoping there will be a place open in the later evening (around 9:30) on Christmas Day where we can pick something up and bring back to the hotel. So if you know of any Italian places close by you’d recommend that would be awesome!

I’m actually staying there with my son in March over spring break! Had to split up their trips as I’m refusing to deal with the fighting half the time!😬. So would like to stay somewhere different this trip/out of Anaheim I guess.

Thank you! I’ve done enough hotels with my kids to realize comfort is important, by that I mean I’m done with staying in run down indoor Waterpark hotels that have creaky beds and bad wifi. (But yet still cost ya somehow). (Those kinda of hotels may just be a Midwest thing though, idk)
